Today's Lineup
Ichiro RF
Branyan 1B
Beltre 3B
Griffey DH
Lopez 2B
Betancourt SS
Balentien LF
Quiroz C
Chavez CF
Yuni is still in, suggesting that the limit on days the Mariner coaching staff is willing to bench him is about four, as that comes to about how many he was benched for earlier and then came back drawing walks. Maybe that is what they will just do from now on, bench him for a week every month.
Gutierrez is not in the lineup, still no definitive news on his knee. I will update the post when or if we/I hear something. It might be moot anyways as thunderstorms be comin'

I'd be a lot more annoyed by it if it weren't so goddamned predictable
Nice Guys Finish Third - My semantics are a waste of time.
Ichiro and Branyan's platoon splits are overstated.
Or, put another way, who on the team has significantly better numbers against lefties than Branyan and brings an approach that merits batting second?
I guess hitting Yuni ninth and Chavez sixth would make some sense.

Just as well about the thunderstorms.
I don’t like our chances with this pitching matchup one bit, and LAA and Oakland both look to be headed for a loss. Texas might find a way to lose. Please?
Don’t know what to thhnk about Yuni in the lineup unless he’s being showcased. In any case, I think it’s apparent that Yuni is seen as part of the problem with the team by at least the coaches and the players. Zduriencik cannot possibly be happy with him either given the good glove/approach type he has favored with every other acquisition thus far, so I am comforted by the idea that he is on the phone right convincing some sucker to watch the game or better yet some archived footage circa 06.

showcased?
Like “here, everybody, look at our lazy pile of shitstop! Now please, somebody make us a great offer!”?

Different strokes for different folks, you know?
Some people like that in a baseball player.

I hear the Rays have a thing for lazy players.
Awaiting the day I catch a Russell Branyan foul ball. I will make love to it.

Dude, ir's "Lazy Pile Shitstop."
Don’t call him “of” okay? There is a limit to how offensive you can be and still get away with it, jerk. You of all people should know the line.

Whatevre you want to call it. But it's much harder to get rid of a benched player than one who's on the field.

but but but
if the player that’s on the field and not the bench sucks as bad as Yuni does, you could drape him with $100 bills and encrust him with jewels and still nobody would take him. Showcasing is a myth.

But if he were bejeweled we could put rhinestoneYuni on the QVC late night
and someone might purchase him on a late night, Nyquil/whiskey/fever dream fueled whim.

Maybe Yuni has done what Wak has asked over the past two days
and he is getting some playing time as a reward. Also, Cedeno needs to shop playing his way out of the majors.
It would be nice if he was given some regular playing time instead of a game here, an AB a few days later, a PR appearance the next day...

Seriously, how can anyone truly see how good he is until he gets a chance to play full time?
Good thing Kansas City gave him that chance.

Cedeno has not been given an extended chance at establishing his swing this year.
It is very easy to lose your swing if you are not playing regularly, and I think this has contributed to his poor results. I don’t think Ronny will ever be better than league average, but right now he is playing sub-replacement, and I partly attribute that to his lack of consistent playing time.

Because I'm clearly serious about this.

I am quite confident that Yuni is on his 'last chance' and that if he fucks up again, he's gone for good.
I trust Wak and Jack on this.

I love the idea of Twitter.
Nick Swisher (why’s he care about the Mariners?), Chase Utley (ditto), and Ryan- Rowland Smith all follow the LL twitter.
