I blame this loss on Ichiro, who was too selfish about his stats to not steal home.

Duly noted.

My tendency to overuse memes isn’t helped by the fact that I’m rarely sober while participating in game threads.

What if you aren't joking?

I really do think he should have just said “Aww fuck it.” and stolen home.

Everybody else is this year.

There’s been, what… about a half dozen thefts of home so far this year?

Washburn was pretty cool about getting fucked by his teamates tonight.
“I feel I should have made a better pitch against Markakis,‘’ Washburn said. "I’ve been nails against lefties all year. I’ve got a couple of lefties coming up right there with guys in scoring position, and I didn’t do the job. I make pitches right there in that inning and they don’t score, we’re still playing."

I've personally never heard him really place blame on other players for anything

Will Ferrell once said, "Get up you crazy black man, I'm gonna make you drink my piss!"

Me either...

except that whole Japanese catcher/want my own catcher deal.

By the way, was searching for the jpeg of him throwing Kenji under the bus, I found the Jeff knife thread. Still funny

Even though I know opinion of Washburn is low around here.

I feel bad for the guy. I know wins as a statistic is pointless, but the guy deserves some sort of reward for his pitching. I can’t find Washburn’s tRA, but he has been pretty solid.

Wak's after game comments

“It’s an awful shame to squander a pitching performance like that by Washburn. ..” Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu

Wak, get a clue already. You’re the numskull who’s batting Yuni and Beltre behind Ichiro.
It was a goshdam waste of some nice pitching again, for the upteenth time.

If Yuni and Beltre are still in those spots tomorrow, I feel that my basic like for Wakamatsu will turn to dislike.

by Sam Regens on Jun 2, 2009 4:14 AM PDT reply actions

Meh, Wak can only use what he's given to work with.

Tom Tango said somewhere on The Book Blog that the difference between the worst ordered lineup and the best ordered lineup is 10-15 runs per season, or less than 0.1 runs per game. Wouldn’t have made a lick of difference where they hit – we’d still get shut down by the creepiest guy of the year (Hill). Wakamatsu’s gotta play Yuni so GMZ can unload him, while Beltre’s still about an average player even with his atrocious hitting because his defense is so stellar – and no matter where you put them, they’ll hurt you, but they both need to play if they are to be traded this year.

by Decatur on Jun 2, 2009 5:54 AM PDT up reply actions

The batting order doesn't really matter that much.

There’s an immense lack of hitting talent on this team. It’s not Wak’s fault.

How is it possible

that this loss feels worse than Sunday’s? Sunday’s was a complete feeling of oncoming disaster, but this…this was just a slowly deflating tire all the way from start to finish. You know it’s gonna be flat, and yet you can’t stop it.

Also, I was ready for Aardsma to have a meltdown

as he was overdue. So that didn’t bother me that much. It wasn’t as bad, either, as Morrow, because was hopefully going to be good and Aardsma’s just a reasonable pro who puts in a day’s work.

So, in a competition of the creeps, who wins?

Vicente Padilla had that necromancer look. You just know he’ll be the one to raise the Army of the Dead and use it to rise to ultimate power. Rich Hill looks like you’d find him outside your window on a stormy night with a frying pan, some steak sauce, and a hankerin’ for some of your left thigh.

Bye, Jeffie!

I really don't ever care about trade speculation or drafts or anything

no matter how good the FO is. Unlike Bavasi, I trust that Z knows what he’s doing, and that’s as far as I need to take it – speculation annoys me.
