What in God's name just happened?
Frankly, this is the craziest game we've had yet this season.
In case you hadn't heard, the Rays were up on the Tribe 10-2 in the eighth inning, at which point the Indians scored 2 runs. Just two harmless runs, right? Their WE had to be less than 1% entering the ninth inning.
Then the Indians scored seven runs. Seven runs.
Walk. Pop-up. Single. Throwing error. Line-out. Three-run homer. Walk. Walk. Walk. Walk. Two-run walk-off single.
It's always Cleveland that pulls the big comeback. This game had shades of that famous 2001 loss in which we twice had 11 run leads but lost in spectacular fashion.
And if you thought our WE plummetted after the Uribe double a few nights ago, it absolutely pales in comparison to this:

How did Chris Carpenter do today?

Amazing
8 IP, 10 K’s, 0 BB’s. And he only threw 92 pitches.

The completely irrational angry part of me swears he'd have two no hitters if we had a real secondbaseman

He got squeezed.
But yes, ugh. :(

He was fired from the team with the worst bullpen in baseball and replaced by Ryan Franklin
so I can see why the Rays would sign him and put him on the ML roster

On the bright side at least your team can score runs

We have Brignac, Aybar, and Zobrist to toss at second.

Bet you kind of wish you still had Adam Kennedy?

Sort of.
Although, Zobrist’s bat might make up for his defensive ineffectiveness. We shall see.

Oh look, and now Bartlett's probably headed to the DL.
Awesome.

We get it. The Rays blew a large lead.
But for fuck’s sake, this is a Mariners blog.

I don't think Taylor H posted this because it was the Rays.
He probably posted it because this was a historic comeback that most of us might have missed. Seriously, this kind of game won’t be seen again for years. Look at the WE chart…it’s beyond ridiculous. I have never seen anything like this.
Relax dude, not every fanpost is always about the M’s. And for fuck’s sake, no one forced you to read this.

I managed to see this, and somehow miss all of the good part.
I was at a sports bar watching the basketball game and saw it was 10-4 going into the bottom of the ninth. Next time I looked at it, it was 10-9 with two outs and the bases loaded. I did manage to see the game winning hit. Ridiculous.

Really an ugly game. 19 walks, 410 total pitches

It boggles my mind
to watch teams capable of drawing multiple walks in a game. I thought the 11 walks in the Dodgers/Rockies game was insane but 19? Wow.

The downside of being able to draw multiple walks is to suffer through many strikeouts. 12 times the Indians have struck out 10 or more times in a game. The Mariners have only done that 3 times.
Cleveland has struck out 356 times (versus 193 walks). The Mariners have struck out 273 times (versus 120 walks).

....
Buf if I did, I would just do that ^^
Not to be disrespectful, but it’s just a hard habit to break after not doing so for 3+ years now.

You just broke it to do that so it can't be that hard really

The Indians just have that Comeback Mojo.
Now if they’d come back from 12 runs down in the seventh inning ….
