Question for someone who might know:
Any chance he ever plays second base in the majors?

No
After his off-season “Tommy John” surgery, they almost exclusively played him at 1B through the season. Due to some teammate’s injuries, he finally got in one game in CF.
At best, he’ll be able to hold his own in CF, but a corner spot is also likely. His arm seems fine, and he can definitely run down balls easily enough. He’s never played MI at the collegiate level, so it’s unrealistic to suddenly hope that he’d switch now.

His coach seems to think he can
But I think anyone who would draft him would be wasting time needed for him to learn the position. His arm is the only thing really keeping him from CF right now. His speed has been rated a 70 by scouts so I think he’ll be able to handle CF once his arm is fully healthy.

Only if his arm problems keep him out of the OF
because his bat would obviously be more valuable at 2B than 1B. If his arm can hold up to playing center, though, I think Scrupio’s right — you keep him at the position he already knows how to play so that he makes the majors faster.
