A Poll
As of today, Adrian Beltre's updated Marcel projection for the rest of the year calls for a wOBA of .318 (.253/.305/.419 batting line).
For an explanation of wOBA, read this. Beltre's wOBA figures since signing with Seattle have been .308, .338, .346, .336, and this year's .233.

Since I'm new to these stats, would someone mind paraphrasing wOBA?
This could also be useful for the rest of the new guys that are showing up this year. Thanks.
We can say goodbye to contending if he puts up that line.

When we've fallen out of contention and there's no pressure Beltre will start to hit
So he’ll probably reach that wOBA. I remember this phenomona with Sexson also (the year before he was cut).
Sucks that we get saddled with these head-types (starting with Cirillo).
And it sucks that Beltre is hitting 2nd high in the order! Sheesh get him out of there!!
Sorry for the profanity, this is really aggravating. We’re still close to .500 and got a chance. Let Beltre’s underperforming ass ride pine or at least bat 7 or 8 for gosh sake.
Just imagine if he wasn't a crazy good defender. If we had to put up with this
while he was a mediocre to bad defender, he’d be one of my most hated M’s ever
Sorry for the profanity?
And that is your profanity?
Do you read this site? Ever?
Sorry for the profanity?
You said “sheesh” and “for gosh sake” – I don’t think an apology cuts it, that’s just over the line pal.

Sorry guys,
Actually after the Sexson sentence I had written “Underperforming bitches.” (pointing to Beltre and Sexson) but then thought, “whoa that may be too nasty for this site”, and censored myself at the last moment.
Fuck that censorship bullshit goddamit
(seriously, we don’t mind swearing so much)

.318 isnt much above the .300 wOBA replacement level
I think of Beltre as being closer to league average (.340). So I voted above. He’ll probably pick it up at some point, and .318 isnt a very high bar to achieve.
He's running out of time to get back to a normal season line

But the .318 is *purely* rest of season, right?
I mean, there’s basically no chance he gets back to a ‘normal’ season line. His ZIPS ROS projection is a .320 wOBA, which would get him all the way up to …. .299. What a cunt belch of a season for Beltre.
