A Note On Carlos Silva
According to the broadcast, results are back from an MRI done on his shoulder, and the test revealed an impingement along with some fraying in the labrum and rotator cuff. The team's looking for a second opinion, but since their go-to hospital is running a Carlos Silva ERA Special on orthopedic consults, it may not be in the budget.

Does contract insurance only apply to the WBC (e.g. when Pujols didn't play because he couldn't get insured), or do teams get it for their regular contracts too?
Not that any insurance person would be in their right mind to insure a pitcher.

Regular as well.
Which is why when people talk about worse contracts of all time, and then just rattle off players that were hurt the entire time (like Carl Pavano, or Darren Dreifort) they’re being stupid. Teams insure the hell out of those contracts.

His injury is reported to be "wear and tear that affects most pitchers."
So… yes and no.
