Felix's Fastballs So Far
NOTE: this may be a PITCHf/x problem, and not a Felix problem, so don't go jumping off tall things just yet.

If Felix goes down, then I'm done for the year.

He seems to be throwing a lot of 4-seamers...
Swinging strikes on the changeup…

Reported pitch velocity is consistently down in Arlington this year
I don’t know if it’s a PitchFX problem or what. It’s even been speculated that it’s because the mound is too flat.

McCarthy was down vs. his last start at OAK
88.2 avg yesterday, 89.5 at OAK.
Washburn 86.8 yesterday, 88.4 in his last start vs KC.
Obviously not conclusive, but the pattern generally holds up when you look at a wider sample (as in the linked article).
Did I read gameday right
Did Felix just throw a changeup at 89?
Even if the pitch fx is slightly slow…isn’t a 3 mph difference a bit…shocking?
Felix has been doing that pretty much all year.
And year, 3mph is pretty bad.

Gameday has no idea what's his fastball/sinker and what's his changeup.
It’s hard to tell manually, much less algorithmically.
Well, even still...
He’s pitching better today than I’d expected him to…

Felix also needs to shave
I am no longer in Spokane, but I think I'll keep the name anyway.
Are they 4-seamers or 2-seamers?
I don’t have any clue how to determine this other than the screen saying “4-seamer” but it seems as if they’re down in the zone. Is it the amount of “brk” that is off, in addition to the velocity? Just curious.

I think the gun was 3 mph off.
Player BB hit 96 on the gun when he was dialling up his straight suck pitches towards the execution. We all know he can throw around 99 which he has demonstrated recently.
This would mean that Felix topped out around 96/97, which sounds about right.

Felix looked slow in his last start too remember.
Not this bad though.
