And so, it continued...
Aaron Rowand just got a text from Tyler Walker saying he's just been signed by the Phillies.
...
Hi. Uh, Jack, this is Rubén.
I met you at the, um, at the Winter meetings, uh, last winter.
Uh, I just called t-to say that I had a great time...
and you should call me tomorrow, or in, uh, t-two days, uh, whatever.
Anyway, uh, my number is 213-555-4679.
-------------------------
Hi, uh, Jack, this is Rubén again.
I just called 'cause it sounded like your machine might've cut me off...
when, uh, when I... before I finished leaving my number.
Anyway, uh... And also, uh, sorry to call so late,
but you were still in California when I left, so I knew I'd get your machine.
Anyhow, uh, uh, my number's 213-555-4679
-------------------------
213-555-4679. That's it. Just wanna leave my number.
I didn't want you to think I was weird or desperate or...
We should just, uh, hang out...
and, uh, see where it goes.
'Cause it's nice and, uh, you know, no expectations.
So, okay? Thanks a lot. Bye-bye.
-------------------------
I just got out of a three-year relationship, okay?
That should help explain why I'm acting so weird. I just wanted you to know that.
It's not you, it's me. I'm sorry.
...This is Rubén.
-------------------------
Hi, Jack, this is Rubén. Could you just, uh, call me when you get in?
I'm gonna be up for a while and I'd rather speak to you in person...
instead of trying to fit it all into...
-------------------------
Uh, Jack? R-Rubén.
It's, uh, uh... It's just, uh...
This just isn't working out.
I- I think you're great, but, uh, I-I...
Maybe we should just take some time off from each other.
It's not you, it's me. It's what I'm going through.
All right? Uh, it-it-it's, it...
It's only been six months...

Doyle, Little Garciaparra, Dobbs, Raul, now Tyler Walker.
I’m also probably missing someone.
Yes, yes, the Phillies get a lot of ex-M's players
But 99% of that occurred during the Bavasi/Gillick tenures.
Also, why would anyone call regarding a player who’s been released?
What’s Ruben’s motivation in this scene?
Hmmm....
Alex Desert, who appeared in “Swingers” was a guest-star on an episode of the Sarah Silverman Program that ALSO featured a guest appearance by Eddie Pepitone, which makes you think of ex-Yankee all star JOE Pepitone, who was the batting coach for the Yankees in 1980, before being fired and replaced by Lou Piniella, who, as M’s manager, had a good relationship with Ken Griffey Jr.
So Ruben is really asking about KGJ, right? The Tyler Walker thing just got him GMZ’s phone number?

I used to really like Hepcat in 1997-98
I saw them a few times in Hollywood.
I saw them at HoB a few years ago
at what was supposedly their last show ever (although I think I saw them again at another show a few years later).
Excellent bad.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
Do you remember Hafacat?
My band opened for them a few times and I was in love with their bass player. The Hepcat mention made me think of them.
that is the most awesome thing ever and I'm envious
they’re playing down here in a couple weeks, can’t wait, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
That's pretty cool all right
I’m just sorry I missed seeing Rachel play guitar for Neko Case a few years back (I don’t think Rachel was with Neko when she played around here; it was just back east…maybe), but I have often thought of receiving hugs from both RF/NC. Or RF+NC.
Greatest 3rd wave band
would definitely be Streetlight Manifesto on the Everything Goes Numb album.

Cairo, Jake Woods
But none of that had anything to do with Jack Zduriencik so I don’t get it either

We've all seen the movie.
It still doesn’t make any sense.
What movie?

Also reminds me of the answering machine scene from Singles.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Also Old School
Which is strange to watch because it’s so clearly lifted from Swingers (yes, I know Vince Vaughn is in both movies), which is the real reason it’s uncomfortable for me to watch.
I'd rather know a little about a lot than a lot about a little
If I watched a movie named "Swingers" that would imply I endorsed the lifestyle

I'd say that's a mostly accurate statement

It is no longer a mystery why you are the way you are then.
That’s solved.
Well that's good news

Also it's about swing music for Christ's sake.

Maybe Corco likes cameras and cinematography?
I’d recommend Autofocus right off the top of my head.
Matthew either mixed it up with 215 (SE PA)
or that’s the area code from the movie quotes.
