Actually
The only thing the Glen Perkins picture seems to be saying is “huh?”
I'd rather know a little about a lot than a lot about a little
Oh boy, this is one helluva weak lineup. Somebody please tell me that Perkins can't get righties out?
Chavez
Gutz
Sweeney
Beltre
Lopez
Wlad
Johnson
Cedeno
Betancourt
Wak is just on saying that they want to get everyone in the first week, and get some guys an off day (Joh, Beltre)

Yea, it's a good lineup given the roster we have. Although I would have liked to have seen Tui get in there
to add a little extra power to the lineup. However, overall it doesnt look like a group that is going to score many runs
My 1st game thread of the season...
…though my enthusiasm is somewhat dimmed by the news out of SoCal this morning, I will soldier on doggedly.
Go M’s! Let’s get the split.
We've played too well to come out of this series anything but 2-2.
GO M’s.
[you owe me you fuckers].
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!

Jeff, do you still have the links to the full body shot versions of the MLB player photos?

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it
but the new mlb player is a steaming turd that need to be boiled in fire
Since it has defaulted to not doing HD, I've had no problems with it either
My only problem was with it going back in time a second or two and repeating certain things, which was annoying, but on SD it’s been smooth as butta.
You need to save your nickels and get a machine that can run flash

Drayer on the change-ups last night...
apparently, Joh called them & Silva agreed with the call … that the change-up was what he would have called in the situation.
Wak disagrees with both of them, and talked to them about it….
More from Wak (via LaRue)
"It’s not about blame, it’s about accountability," Wakamatsu said. "We’re trying to move this team forward. Kenji called it. Carlos could have shaken him off. And I could have called the pitch from the bench.
"The key is to get us all on the same page. Carlos is a sinker-slider guy who occasionally throws a changeup. I’d much rather throw my best pitch where I want it – even if the hitter is sitting on it – than my third best pitch, which I may not have great control of."
"The bottom line: that wasn’t acceptable. We’ve got to get better, and that’s a process. I include myself in that."
I like Wak.
I hate it when tv people add "tragically" to the front everything
1) We know it’s awful, I don’t need you to tell me that being hit by a DD = bad
2) I don’t think tragedy means what you think it means.

What was the point
Of bringing Tui up as a reward if your not gonna play him? A game where they give Beltre the day off at third and he still can’t get off the bench? We may as well have brought a 13th pitcher for the pen.
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
They don't have to sneak him through waivers when Ichiro comes back
by JI on Apr 9, 2009 10:08 AM PDT up reply actions
I understand the rationale
But wouldn’t this be a perfect game to let him play befroe they ship him back to Tacoma?
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
The reward was monetary.
Tui doesn’t actually deserve to play over Cedeno.
I don't know
I guess I’m a bit higher on Tui then the rest of you, although living in Texas now I don’t get to watch Mariners games so I haven’t really seen him play, I just get box scores.
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
Cedeno is going to be a bigger part of this team in 2009 than Tui.
It is important to get him at bats.
So in the event that Beltre gets shipped out
Do you see Cedeno or Tui taking over 3b?
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
If thats the case
Where is Justin Leone at? I’m sure he’d play for cheap
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
They seriously need to pull that.

Yes!
Guti is quickly becoming my favorite Mariner.
He looks good at the plate.
He’s put a really good swing on pretty much everything I’ve seen him swing at, and he seems to know the strike zone. Small sample size like no other, but I think he’s gonna have a big year.
This one doesn't really seem so much like a joke as it is a truth about Jose Vidro.
It’s not like something was being elaborated on to try and make it funnier, it just was what it was.

The ball was hit into deep left-center field
Franklin came out of nowhere with a diving catch to nab it just before it hit the ground.

by Scruffy Lefty on Apr 9, 2009 10:28 AM PDT up reply actions
I try to ignore Jim Edmond catches
so it’s hard to say. =/
He was shifted towards right
the ball was hit to left center. He covered an impossible amount of ground to get there, laid out, and caught it inches above the ground
Sounds tight. Hopefully it'll go up as a video highlight on GameDay so I can see it soon.
Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism
The ball looked like it was for sure going into the gap for extra bases.
Guti went back covered an amazingly large amount of ground and laid out to catch the ball like half an inch above the ground. Really impressive.
With this defense
and the fact that any contending team likely already has a good third baseman, I’m betting that Washburn returns more in trade this year than Beltre does.
If Arod cant come back
I’d take one of the Yank’s young pitchers and a swisher type…
Too close for missles, switching to guns.
Why would the Cardinals do that?
How in the world does that help them.
by JI on Apr 9, 2009 10:31 AM PDT up reply actions
Not only is that a ridiculous amount of talent to give up
but the Cards system is deep in third basemen. I would give up that type of talent for Felix, let alone one year of Beltre.

No, it's just that ridiculous Cardinal trade offers are about as played out as Silva fat jokes.
by JI on Apr 9, 2009 10:36 AM PDT up reply actions
Which is why the Yankees
trade is more likely to happen, and with Hughes and Kennedy sitting in the minors they could make a deal…

Because in addition to Beltre the Yankees would want something more as well

I had a dream last night where we managed to trade up in the draft to guarantee our acquisition of Strasburg
Waking up was a disappointment.
My ONE consolation, if the Nats blow it and pass on Strasburg, is that at least he'll fall to the Mariners.
It’s just that the Nationals desperately need him, far moreso than the M’s.
Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism
Honestly I wouldn't mind at all if he went to the Nats
