April 15th------->Free Tix! (LL Meetup?) Bump.

Hey guys,

So I bought four tickets to the April 15th, game after the home opener, back in late February, thinking that I would be able to find three other people to join me. Well, that isn't the case, since it is on a Wednesday night, and apparently most people I know would rather study for school or get up early for work the next day then have an awesome time at the ball park.

I figure it won't be quite like Opening Day, but it should still be quite an exciting atmosphere. Now the deal is, I still want to go, but haven't found anyone since the people I originally asked had plans that came up. So, I figured, this would be a great way to meet some LLers and have an intelligent conversation about baseball while watching the game and getting drunk. I am wanting to meet up maybe around 5 or so at Safeco to be able to watch the M's batting practice and maybe get an autograph.

It will be completely free, only two requirements. First, I will still be coming along, and second, be old enough to buy beer, because I am not and I need someone who is.

Post here if you are wanting to go, and I'll shoot you an e-mail and figure out what works best for us.

O yes, and the seats are in Section 109, Row 26 (I believe lower OF reserved start at 23), seats 18-21.

If anyone is going to the game, let it be known so that there could be a potential LL meetup before or during the game. I figure some guys might already be there, (Brett, Sec 108), so we could have a mini meet up before hand.

Seriously, no one else? Afraid of getting busted by the alcohol people? Or did people already contact you offline…

Anyway, I satisfy both of your requirements. In an effort to avoid getting more spam then I already do, here is my email address in graphical form….let me know

I did

It’s a great place. Highly recommend it if you are looking at engineering colleges and want a small school atmosphere with good professors. It ain’t cheap though, and it’s a lot of work.

yeah

my friend is doing some sort of engineering there, he’s taking like 3 physics classes right now. I could hardly handle 1. And I also heard it’s pricey. Someone once described me the school as “one of those schools, that’s so prestigious, you’ve never even heard of it”

Well, to be fair, I only need one person to be of age, and appleshampoo fills it, but at the same time,

you would have to be at least 18, I don’t want to be taking any butthols or Coachs to the game.

by Fin on Apr 8, 2009 9:59 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dude, I am 19, well almost 20, so I understand that.

I think you took what I said out of context.

What I meant was that I said I would want the people I am taking to at least be 18, and acblue said that he was smarter than all of us even though he was young. Then I mentioned how I thought he was 18, since I might have read on some thread about him mentioning he is 18. I probably should’ve included that in my regular comment.

by Fin on Apr 9, 2009 12:54 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I are 18.

It’s probably out the question regardless though as I’m going to the home opener and have to get up at an ungodly hour for school.

Are you still in high school?

Because man, you are in for a good surprise when you go to college. In high school, I had to be there at 7:20 at school, but now, I don’t take a class before 11. Unfortunately, I got an internship that I have to be at in the early morning, so I have to adjust to getting up earlier again.

Hopefully it's not me and 3 underage guys

‘Cause I can only get 2 beers at a time, and I’ll be damned if I spend the entire game going back and forth to the concessions.

Of course I will hook you up Fin, since you’re providing the tickets. But yeah, could get annoying.

by appleshampoo on Apr 9, 2009 12:46 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea, I understand.

I would hate to have you miss too much of the game by going to buy beer.

by Fin on Apr 9, 2009 12:55 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My response came off kind of assholish

but yeah, I just wouldn’t want to buy like…20 or 30 beers…‘cause that’s totally possible if there were like 3 alcoholics. Whatevs. Looking forward to it.

by appleshampoo on Apr 9, 2009 1:08 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I prefer the term alcoholist

Much like an accomplished guitarist or pianist, it’s a skill I’ve aquired over many years of practice.

by coolguyrob on Apr 9, 2009 3:57 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I imagine each person could carry several beers in under a jacket

And then you could have whatever kind of beer you want. I’ve never tried this, but it’s a thought.

by Decatur on Apr 9, 2009 4:14 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

That's a tad risky if you don't also bring your own large plastic cups to pour the beer into from the bathrooms

I’ve always found that smuggling booze in, especially as an underage folk, is more trouble then it’s worth

Pfft! Amateurs!

Airplane booze concealed in boots, baggy clothing, whatever. You buy a Coke, pour the airplane booze(s) in, you’re good to go.

haha!

Are you serious? They just accuse you for no reason?!
I guess I shouldn’t laugh – I got carded last year while I was talking to my brother on the phone below the left field bleachers; I’m 37, and the chick who carded me was easily half that. Meh. Whatever…

It's happened on several occassions.

I usually bring coffee with me and even after looking in the thermos and pawing through my bag I still get stern warnings from the folks at the gate.

by acblue on Apr 9, 2009 5:22 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

They let you bring coffee in?

That’s pretty cool, actually – I didn’t think any liquids were allowed through the gates…I need to start bringing my own food in, because I can’t always afford to eat there; they seem ok with food, even if it’s wrapped in Mysterious Tin Foil…

by section331 on Apr 9, 2009 5:58 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

You could smuggle pretty much anything in if you put it in a styrofoam container and in a plastic bag so it looks like takeout. Not that you really need to resort to that…flask in the sock and you’re good to go.

by appleshampoo on Apr 10, 2009 1:01 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nah, empty thermos.

Should have clarified.

by acblue on Apr 10, 2009 1:58 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Your avatar

makes you look about 25, so I wouldn’t blame her. Unless that is a very un-representative picture.

by appleshampoo on Apr 9, 2009 5:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nope.

That’s pretty much what I look like, sans hat (cuz’ it ain’t always cold). Thanks for the compliment; I normally FEEL about 80. :p
Still 25 is old enough to legally drink. ;) The alcohol enforcement dude she was with looked like he was ready to take me the fuck DOWN, as if I was going to run or something. Generally, I’m cool with SafeCo, but every once in a while one of their employees does something that really annoys me. Oh well. One of the hazards of being the a member of the general public, I suppose…

They carded you there?

I have drank beer there several times and I have never been carded once.

by Fin on Apr 9, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well,

A lot of times they card me upon buying the beer, but these people who carded me were the liquor enforcement folks that are often walking around the stadium. Funny, you’d think “liquor enforcement” would mean something different…

Safeco has a camera on every seat.

No joke. If you’re going to be underage and drinking, be in control and put the alcohol in a different cup in the bathroom or something.

by NOLAmarinergirl on Apr 9, 2009 9:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

This has to be a joke, right?

I trust that every seat isn’t actually monitored, as I have gotten away with it a few times already.

by Fin on Apr 9, 2009 9:25 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

That would make sense.

But I easily pass for 21, which is probably why I have yet to run into any problems. I am sure it is just for the children, or to have record of anything else illegal going on there.

by Fin on Apr 10, 2009 12:00 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The enforcement guys are not undercover

They wear wind-breakers or maybe orange shirts (can’t remember) with “ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT” printed plainly on them.

by appleshampoo on Apr 10, 2009 1:03 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

They seem to mostly wander around

But there is a two-beer limit per person, which is another thing to take into consideration – if your buddies are buying two beers all the time, suspicions will most likely be raised.
Then again, if they let drunk Jays fans in there, maybe they don’t care about public intoxication (since Seattle has no law about it).

Sounds like fun

But I’m going on the 14th, 16th, and 17th… And as much as I love this team, 4 nights in a row would be a little too much to handle.

I'm Brandon Morrow. I have a lishp and diabetesh.

by seattlecougar on Apr 9, 2009 7:36 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I actually do not have tickets to the second game.

Silva and Washburn on back to back nights has been forbidden by my doctor.
