Nice to see some effort by Wak to move the lefties down in the order vs Liriano. I was holding my breathe thinking that he was gonna force feed Griffey and Branyan into the #3 and #5 holes respectively even though we're facing a tough lefty. Lopez down at 6 and Gutz at 2 is a little suprising, but I like it.

They seem committed to letting Branyan play full time or near full time..
Pretty sure that was one of the selling points to getting him here.
Hell if it were up to me I’d throw both Tui and Wlad in there and bench Griffey and Branyan. No need for them to face a lefty the caliber of Liriano.
Some of that might just be Opening Day ceremonial stuff

Not bad.
And while Chavez might never have a high OBP, he has plenty of grit and should be a fine leadoff hitter for the next 8 or so games.
Yes. Grit.
Throw the snacks in the bag and I'm ghost like Swayze!

When Mike Sweeney is your opening day #3 hitter, you know your lineup isn't scoring alot of runs.
You can't hide from the omnipresent eye.
I know it's been a few years, but the man hit .400 and 82 homers

It is pretty cool that our Opening Day 3-hole hitter didn't even get a major league contract this offseason
That would have never happened before

Isn't that kind of like how Washington's Opening Day starter last year was an NRI?

I really hope
Sweeny is not the 2009 version of Vidro. At least I hope his leash is short.
