Gavin Floyd has scrofula
That’s my explanation.
I don’t know what scrofula actually IS, disease-wise, but I’m guessing that its external symptoms look a lot like whatever the fuck is encroaching upon Floyd’s neck.

I'm guessing that he has a shower in his garage and there's a burned out light bulb in there
and he grabbed the sandpaper instead of the towel after he was done with his shower. Or he keeps sandpaper in his bathroom, which…weird.

I have a superstitious yet somewhat OT sports-related question
(if it’s too OT feel free to delete)
Arsenal/ManUre kick off their Champions League semifinal today at 11.45. I have not watched an Arsenal Champions League match all year, and today’s match is taking on mythic superstitious significance in my head. I desperately want to watch it, but fear if I do that things will go, in the local parlance, all pear-shaped. Should I go watch it, or should I stick with what I’ve done all season and give it a miss?
Note that this restriction will not apply if by some miracle of fate Arsenal should reach the final.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
What's the point in being a fan if you do not watch the games?
I say go watch it, superstition be damned.
This is what I'm leaning towards
and I’m usually not a superstitious person. My choice is either watch it live or follow it on the Guardian’s website, I couldn’t ignore it entirely.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.

Yuni is a bad hitter. Beltre isn't.
What happened yesterday or last week doesn’t change what their skill levels are going forward.
It's funny that six months ago our broadcasters would have endlessly mocked another team for starting Branyan
Particularly if it were Oakland.
I'm just a little perplexed because I don't really remember them doing much mocking.

There should be rules for hit batters.
If you don’t try to get out of the way, you don’t get the base. I know this is a rule, but it’s never enforced. Also, if there’s no way it could hurt, like grazing your jersey, you don’t get the base.

Richie Ashburn once struck a woman in the stands with a foul pitch in Shibe Park and broke her nose. As they were removing her on a stretcher, he hit her again with another foul ball.

His approach looks better – he took a first strike, laid off a curve, and hit a belt high pitch hard to the right side. Then, he took a first strike, took ball one but got screwed with the call, ball 2, fouled off a curve, then fucked up. But I like what i see.

Doesn't matter. It's not about youth, it's about the formation of unbreakable habits.
