Gavin Floyd has scrofula

That’s my explanation.

I don’t know what scrofula actually IS, disease-wise, but I’m guessing that its external symptoms look a lot like whatever the fuck is encroaching upon Floyd’s neck.

I'm guessing that he has a shower in his garage and there's a burned out light bulb in there

and he grabbed the sandpaper instead of the towel after he was done with his shower. Or he keeps sandpaper in his bathroom, which…weird.

I have a superstitious yet somewhat OT sports-related question

(if it’s too OT feel free to delete)
Arsenal/ManUre kick off their Champions League semifinal today at 11.45. I have not watched an Arsenal Champions League match all year, and today’s match is taking on mythic superstitious significance in my head. I desperately want to watch it, but fear if I do that things will go, in the local parlance, all pear-shaped. Should I go watch it, or should I stick with what I’ve done all season and give it a miss?

Note that this restriction will not apply if by some miracle of fate Arsenal should reach the final.

This is what I'm leaning towards

and I’m usually not a superstitious person. My choice is either watch it live or follow it on the Guardian’s website, I couldn’t ignore it entirely.

And the Guardian ones are hysterical

they’re not too far off from the average OT thread here, there’s some game action sprinkled with a whole lot of other random stuff.

Villa have not won since I watched them at the G&D.

I say no because I actually would like Arsenal to win this.

Why haven't we dropped our 12th pitcher?

Why the fuck is Cedeno not on the DL if he can’t play for one straight week?

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with the results so far, but the roster management is slightly puzzling.

Lopez at second in the lineup is where Lopez belongs

Don’t make me look stupid again, Lopie.

by cwel87 on Apr 29, 2009 11:04 AM PDT up reply actions

Being able to hit is much more helpful than being able to run.

The two-hole is the second most important spot i the lineup. Speed doesn’t matter there, especially with Ichiro at #1.

Dear Wak,

Can you please take Beltre out of the cleanup spot? He has less HR’s than either Yuni or Endy Freakin’ Chavez.

Thanks!

“We know that the Beltre signing as a terrible signing and nothing can justify it. Yes, we have benefit of looking back, but you can’t argue with the reality of now.”

Yeah Beltre!

Too bad Griffey was held up.

But it’s a long game and I still don’t think he should be hitting cleanup. His SLG is abysmal.

There should be rules for hit batters.

If you don’t try to get out of the way, you don’t get the base. I know this is a rule, but it’s never enforced. Also, if there’s no way it could hurt, like grazing your jersey, you don’t get the base.
