Suggests to me that Wak is, in some part, still managing like the team isn’t contending, testing out his pen in various situations to see who will step up.
Makes me think about when he brought in Aardsma to face that lefty in game 3

You know what I was thinking.
Any time a casual fan thinks of the Mariners, they are always reminded of those glory days. Griffey, Buhner, Edgar, Randy Johnson, Dan Wilson, etc. They sometimes even say that they would go to a game if they got all those players again. It had me wondering, I know that they were good, but it seems fans grow more of an affection to the players than the team as a whole (Griffey, Wilson are good examples). Is this a result of the team actually playing good, or did the Mariners just have really good PR/Marketing back then?
We had an incredible team.
If our pitching had been stronger we would have been a dynasty from 97-03.

Those guys made a core that spanned a couple era's of team turnover. Griffey got there first, and was just about the only bright spot most times.
Buhner had personality and bombs. Edgar was just great, and Dave Niehaus loved him (and all those guys, you can hear it in his voice when somebody is special).

When I was growing up, my dad despised every Hawks QB, including the rare good ones.
I thought Dave Krieg was one of the worst quarterbacks in history because of my dad.

I don't follow football like I do baseball.
But he always seemed to throw god awful passes in the last few minutes of a game where we were behind. I suppose that happens often given the situation, but those really stand out for me.
Yeah, but he was also tied or 2nd to only Peyton Manning in game winning/tying drives while behind in the 4th quarter
At least he was in 2007. They put some statistic on screen for the come from behind win against the Bengals.
