LL Meetup ------> Crazy Idea (Need ~20-24 More People)!
Ok, so after the incredibe experience that I had this past Wednesday, it had me thinking. And I finally thought, why reserve a Private or Group suite for Lookout Landing, and just have a whole room exclusive to Lookout Landing members.
So these were the two Suites that I was thinking of, check out the information by going to the links below.
Basically, the Private Suite should fit up to about 24 people (4 people standing), and the Group Suite could fit up to 49 people (9 people standing). I broke down how much it could cost each of us if we chose to do this.
Private Suite - $2,400 in total. About $120 per person. (The standing tickets have to be bought separately) I believe catering is extra here, but when broken down, it could cost an additional 30-40 when considering food and drinks. Before you cringe, may I explain why this would be sweet (no pun intended). Basically, outdoor seating and a private room, all for ourselves, with a TV, bar, etc, while getting to watch the game, not to mention parking at the stadium is paid for four cars.
Group Suite - Now this is the one I would prefer, but who knows if we could get 40-49 people to come along. Basically, Total cost would be $4,100, which breaks down to $102.5 per person (9 extra have to be bought separately). But in this deal includes $1,055 towards food and drinks, a larger outdoor seating area, large indoor seating area, with a bar, concierge service, HDTV, etc. Parking is also paid for six cars, I guess we would be carpooling or whatnot. This would be excellent, and would be right above the hit it here cafe.
I think the prices are greater when teams like the Red Sox or Yankees are in town, so maybe we can see the Mariners play the Rays or some other break out team this year if possible. I realize this is a crazy idea, but I was thinking that doing an LL softball game and then going here at night would be an incredible day. Let me know what you guys think!
Probably best now to keep track of everyone who would be on board for this. This would probably be scheduled in advanced, at a time from mid to late June, seeing that that is the time frame that works best for people's schedules. These are the games that are happening at home in Mid to Late June
June 19-21 - Arizona
June 23-25 - San Diego
Choose which one you would prefer.

Jeff?
Matthew?
Graham?
A good idea suggested may be to bump up the contribution to about $120 or so (would be about $105). The extra $15 would be a donation to pay Jeff, Matthew, and Graham's way into the suite, kind of as a way to say thanks for all of their hard work on the site. I haven't yet been contacted by any of these gentlemen, so I put their name down tentatively, because I couldn't guess why they would turn down this offer.

Must calculate to avoid Silvagame or Washburngame.

I agree.
If me, or anyone else here, is going to drop $100 on this, it better be Felix or Bedard pitching.

I'm trying to imagine how we could write this into the agreement...
“No Silva/Washburn or your money back”!

Holy crap I'm in.
$100 isn’t much more than a seat near the first base line, right? And after softball?
I don’t get back to Seattle until the middle of June, so I couldn’t do it unless its after that. But I’m 100% in if we do this after mid-June.
by Decatur on Apr 17, 2009 4:16 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
It would actually be in the outfield
But its a suite! You would be royalty for three hours!
by Fin on Apr 17, 2009 5:06 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oh, by the first base line i only meant that the price is reasonable.
I wasn’t being down on where the suite is located. I was just saying for $100-$120 a person, the cost per ticket for the suite wouldn’t be much more expensive than the cost of a ticket near the dugout. I’d go even if the suite was in Qwest field!

I'm new and I don't know you guys..
But I play ball, and I would enjoy watching the game in a suite. So if you don’t have 49 regulars, I would like to fill in.
I wouldn’t mind if Silva or Washburn were pitching personally. Getting 50 of you LLers in a room with either of those pitchers on the mound would be comedy gold!

I've never even been in one of the suites at any stadium,
so I’d totally be down. Much like d0nkey before me, I don’t post a whole lot, but if an extra body is needed on a day when I don’t have to be at work or anything, I could totally see making this work. Good luck setting it up!

I'm new too. I've never been in one of the suites. I'd like to be in.
I’ve been lurking, and only recently posting. If you need another body, count me in, I promise to do nothing but ask questions and only where appropiate.

My work gave me private suite tickets to a Nationals game last year
BARF! It was like watching .. well I will leave out the handicapped jokes.. but the suites were amazing. Big screen tvs, bar stools in the room, mariner dogs, nachos burgers, etc.. and of course, a fully stocked mini fridge full of beer.

I'd be totally down if combined with softball.
I’m one of those lurker types, except when softball meetups roll around.
by FWombat on Apr 17, 2009 4:29 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I'm in.
Especially for the group suite. I know some Mariners people read this site… Any chance one of you can hook us up? Y’know, Priceline style? “We know you have 10 open suites for this game… Give us one at half price!”
RIP Nick Adenhart. You will be missed by baseball fans across all organizations.
by seattlecougar on Apr 17, 2009 4:32 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I would probably be in for this
I have toyed with the idea of trying to get together a bunch of friends for a suite, but since I am the biggest Mariner fan in my circle of friends it probably wouldn’t work out. But with a crew of LL folks, we could probably make it happen.
by appleshampoo on Apr 17, 2009 4:43 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
This sounds fun, I hope it doesn't turn into a situation like..
“Hey guys let’s start a softball team!”
“YEAH AWESOME IDEA!@!”
“Lets practice once a week or so and get warmed up come May”
… May comes around and..
“Okay $100 per person for league fees YA LETS DO IT!”
“… oh we gotta pay?”

Not calling everyone here a cheap-ass by any means.
Just seems like a lot to setup and coordinate, money-wise
by d0nkey on Apr 17, 2009 4:53 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would emphasize that everyone would owe like $105 before the game.
And the extra $2.50 everyone pays would add up to an extra $100, which could go to drinks, parking, whatever else anyone needs.

Having worked in the suites for over 6 years now
I can say this is a pretty good idea, especially the group suite as it comes with a food/bev credit. I don’t imgane it’d be too crazy to imagine you could get enough people in on this. Depending on when it’s done I would be willing to attend. I’m going to school at EWU right now but I should be back on that side of the mountains by later June. Also, I could ask my boss if I would get any discount if I set the thing up. Even if I don’t I know pretty much everyone working there and would get under the table perks most likely.
Eitherway It sounds like a fun time, and I’d be game.

I would need an exact date because I should be moving back up to Seattle mid-June or sometime in July.
So I can’t guarantee anything yet, but this would be awesome to do.

What about May 22-24 vs SF?
I know it’s relatively soon, but if we got lucky we could catch Randy…

It would be cool
But a lot of people’s availability isn’t until mid to late June.

Some of us are unemployed
And therefore $100 is not realistic. I only mention this because I would like to go, but that’s too rich for my blood at the moment, I’m afraid…

Maybe some people can chip in $10 extra.
If 30 people did, thats $300, which could get 3 people in who otherwise couldn’t make it. I’d be happy to pitch in $20 or $25, since I won’t be going to many games this year.
by Decatur on Apr 17, 2009 9:48 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
That is a good idea.
You know in fact, maybe those three people should be the Mods! We should reward them for all the hard work they have done on here, not to mention, it would be cool to have Jeff, Graham, and Matthew at the game.
by Fin on Apr 17, 2009 9:56 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
But yeah, the mods definitely deserve whatever we can get them too.

I can pitch in an extra 50 bucks, I'm fortunate to have a job.
I’d love an opportunity to thank the moderaters in person, as well as meet some of the people who are obviously regulars here (section 331.). Those who can, can help.

At the price we're getting to we may as well all chip in and buy Jeff's plane ticket too

I vote Padres, June 23-25
Because I’m not sure if I’d be back for the 19th or 20th, but I know I’ll be back by the 23rd.
by Decatur on Apr 18, 2009 7:57 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Precisely my thoughts.
There are so many things I don’t like about the Padres (especially since Mike Cameron is no longer there).

Definitely our hated rivals.
Unless we could get a Felix/Webb game in the Arizona series. That would be the hotness.

Thanks, Decatur!
I’m not sure how comfortable I am taking money from people I don’t know, but maybe if this happens, I might be able to swing it. A cluster of left field seats would be far more affordable.

This is true.
But you wouldn’t get the amenities of a suite, and it would be harder to chat and hang out.
by Fin on Apr 18, 2009 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed.
The suite is a cool experience. You get food, drinks, room to stand an chat, minimal lines for the bathrooms(which are far nicer than anywhere else in the stadium), a great view from right above the HIH cafe(if it’s a group suite), plus if you want you can request a bartender or if not there is a bar on the suite level really close to get mixed drinks at. I’d be willing to pay and, like I said earlier, I could see if I could get any sort of a discount. Even if I can’t I think it would be a fun time.

Yeah
I technically still work there but I don’t start back til sometime after the all-star break. And I’ll contact my boss to see if I can get anything off, which I dunno if I can. But I can request a quality server and bartender, if we decide to get one, so I have some pull. Haha!

I just wish my employment situation was a little more reliable. I’m contracted at least for 1-3 weeks, and after that, most likely back on the dole….but that’s just me. I think you guys should totally plan this one and just run with it. Those that want to play along will, it’s a great idea.

Count me in for it
I’ve done the private suite thing before thanks to my dad’s old job…but hanging out in a suite full of people who know more than “Ooh, we’re supposed to cheer because the Jumbotron says so” would be a blast!

I'd prefer the 20th or 21st.
Saturday or Sunday would be the easiest for combining with a softball game. Plus, weekday games are a pain for those of us further out from Seattle (Olympia).

Trying to get up there after work on a weekday is super tough from Lacey. The good news (for me anyway) is that I should be free for just about any weekend for the foreseeable future—or at least until I make other plans.
