Poor Jakovasaur
At least we don’t have to keep wondering when the bullpen will stop stranding runners.

Sorry if anyone noticed this during the game
And it was already brought up, but one thing that stood out to me was how Chavez yielded to Ichiro on all the plays that either of them could have gotten to. I can’t recall ever seeing a team where the CF yields right of way to a corner OF, but Chavez did it with deference.
RIP Nick Adenhart. You will be missed by baseball fans across all organizations.

Yeah I noticed that on a play or two
but they still seemed more like the right fielder’s ball. Whatever. Whoever calls it first gets it, and it seemed like Ichiro called them.

No shit!
Now that he’s back on the club, I expect a large increase in the number of hijackings.

Didn't get the best picture on my phone
But I’m glad I was there for this…

I dunno....
Not that impressive if it’s not a GS.
I'm more like I am now than I've ever been.

Damn
Trying not to feel too bad about this game. I mean, if you’re going to lose a game, this is the one to lose, with your emergency #6 starter on the mount and the 1-2 punch coming tomorrow and Saturday.
But still it’s annoying that Jaku pitched so well and we lost, and he got tagged with the loss on that weird fielder’s-choice-means-you-get-charged-with-the-run scoring rule. Not that pitcher W/L really means anything…and yeah, bullpen regression and all that. But Corco was pretty much playing his game, keeping the ball on the ground, and they just found holes.
A couple of notes, from where I was sitting (just 3rd base side of HP), Yuni looked pretty bad on at least 2 of the hits up the middle when Corco was on the mound. I didn’t have great perspective, but I’m wondering if anyone else thought he could have made more of an effort. To the same point that Sec 108 was making about yesterday’s game (don’t remember who was arguing the other way), it seems like he just doesn’t care on balls that he might have a chance at. I don’t expect him to dive at everything, but a few of those seemed like he should have had a shot. Lopez’s great play toward the end of the game was on a ball that looked pretty similarly hit, and he snagged it. Too bad it didn’t matter.
Second point just for fun, I was sitting next to a couple from Australia and they didn’t even know who RR-S was. I asked “I bet you were hoping to see Ryan pitch tonight, huh?” and they were like “who?”

Oh yeah
The Beltre-Johnson play at the plate was pretty sweet. Not sure where Chone thought he was going there…

It's an Angel thing.
With a runner on third they always run on contact. I’ve seen them get thrown out at home a lot.

I was in the CF bleachers, and I remember thinking exactly the same thing about Yuni
Either he was positioned badly, or he just didn’t give full effort there.

Hmmm...
Dave thinks it’s bad positioning, which hopefully they fix right quick!

I didn't expect Jakubauskas to pitch so well
But the bullpen blowing it was entirely predictable. We all knew he was on a pitch count so they would be seeing significant time, so there was little chance of us winning this game. That was my view of it.

In a survey of approximately 12 Aussies, exactly 0 knew of RRS. Only 1 was familiar with baseball.
Really surprised me as I queried half of them during the WBC.

Did anyone see what happened with the guy who ended up on the field in RF?
I didn’t see what happened, but it looked like he fell or something, though I don’t see how you could fall from where he was.
by Smegmalicious on Apr 16, 2009 11:37 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I saw him on the field.
He must have jumped/fallen? I’m leaning toward jumped, since I think they put him in cuffs. I only say that because his pants fell down while they were walking him off the field, and they had to pull them up as he was not able to do it.

I think there's a gap between the first row of seats and the wall
Am I wrong about that? I’ve never sat up on the fence in RF, but from where I was sitting it looks like a gap of a couple of feet.
The guy also looked very drunk, but maybe he landed on his head or something.

I've gotten front row seats in RF a couple times
There is a good 2’ gap between the railing and the outfield wall.
Let's not suck!

Couldn't really see from my seats, but those in the front row confirmed the pants falling down story.

Damn, I missed that.
I was just getting back to my seat with food when I noticed the crowd was laughing and they had the guy pinned to the wall.
Hard work never killed nobody, but I won't take my chances.
