Have you actually followed him over the last two seasons?

I watched more than a few of his games last year. It was UNBELIEVABLE how terrible, how completely, utterly, toastily DONE he looked.

Yeah and he's also 32 and can field

so a bounceback is somewhat likely. It’s not like he’s 39 and coming off a switch to firstbase

by JI on Apr 15, 2009 8:33 PM PDT up reply actions

I was skeptical that he could field.

I read a scouting report from the Spring that he was incredibly overweight and actually fell down chasing a routine flyball. Guess that’s why you don’t put much stock in one report.

by Matthew on Apr 15, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions

HIs URZs the last few years were pretty good

In 2007 he was worth something like three wins despite OPSing .720

I like the pitcher making the tag.

It’s a little more “fuck you” than just tossing it to the bag.

How is that bad?

It’s just a cool sidenote (an odd one at that) for the black baseball history. I bet Griffey would be proud.

Jackie Robinson Day idea

so what they should do is award one player from each team the “Jackie Robinson Award” or some such, for being a good guy and an ambassador for the sport, etc.

Then, if that guy is still on the team the next year, he gets the privilege of wearing 42 on Jackie Robinson day. No one else gets to wear it.

Watching them cut the dugout after the homerun was entertaining.

He pretended to bite (his?) kid and then pushed Silva and Bedard apart to sit down while they weren’t paying attention.
