Cahill is a highly touted prospect.
Very high GB rates [65% in AA last year]. Has only allowed 8 HR in over 200IP before his last start. Features a good sinker and snappy curveball. BP praises his good command and control of his three pitches.
But he has never faced the entity known only as KING CHAVEZ.

In yesterday’s game thread, there were a couple sets of instructions, but I couldn’t get them to work. MLB seems to have closed some loopholes this year.

Dave Niehaus really needs to team up with Dean and Gort from Ottawa 1200
It would be the most hilariously trio at game calling.
MLB.tv went to the stupid premium advert
there’s only 2 outs!
IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN MLB PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION BUT STILL WANT THE M'S TV FEED, DO THE FOLLOWING:
1.) Go to the MLB.com homepage
2.) Click on the “Scoreboard” tab
3.) Click on the “Audio” feed of the M’s/A’s game (should be right above the box score)
4.) Once the audio is fired up, select the option to switch to FSNW video feed.
It’s strange…I’m not allowed to get into the FSNW feed from Gameday or the front page, but if I go this route, I get Dave & Co. no problem. For those few LL folks who are outside the blackout range and don’t have the MLB.tv Premium subscription.

While being crazy the own goal in the Ducks-Senators game wasn't at the very end of regulation.
It was the end of Daniel Alfredsson’s best shot at winning the cup but there is in fact a distinct difference between the two. So if one of us is slipping, I assure you it is clearly not me.

Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism
Well I dunno...the line has been "any team with Albert Pujols in the NL Central is always around the margins of contention..."
But nobody seriously expects/expected the Cards to challenge the Cubs or the Brewers in the NL Central. Perhaps because nobody thinks Carpenter will be/remain healthy.

Search for the title “Championship Leverage Index: How Meaningful Is This Game?”
I probably should have said
“can be” more important.
No
From the article:
“This average game, is also, not coincidentally, the same as opening day. Because nobody knows what the rest of the season will hold, the opening day game is, by definition, the average regular season game – depending on what happens sometimes it will be much less meaningful than other games, and sometimes much more. This increase in championship probability due to winning this average game is 0.28% (the increase in probability of making the playoffs is 2.25%). Using the example from above, 0.32/0.28 gives a Champ LI of 1.14, meaning the 82nd game (played with a 49-32 record and a four game lead over the Cardinals) was slightly more meaningful to the Cubs championship hopes than the average regular season game.”
Higher leverage doesn't really mean more important in the sense you're thinking.
If you win a Sunday matinée game in April the leverage of the game in September isn’t as high.
by Aaron Campeau on Apr 12, 2009 1:37 PM PDT up reply actions
In the sense that
it was more important to the Cubs’ hope, in that example, of making the playoffs, the game was more important.
All I want is for Rob Johoson to walk
please don’t hit the ball
This guy is all over the place
And with our current lineup, I’m actually fairly confident that they will be able to work him, as opposed to last year’s.
They;re probably not watching the game on TV if they're at the stadium
there’s probably like 2,000 more watching on TV

But very, very unlikely.

Didn't they have less than 3,000 or something absurd for a game last year?

It's total bullshit that they aren't commemorating Easter by wearing hats with ears and pants with fluffy tails.
It seems like there are 8 people there.
They should have just gone around town and given out tickets for free just to fill the stands.
Way to go Sweeny!
Zombie Jesus thanks you!

Seriously it's a game thread, the other thread yes I should have capitalised
it wasn’t done on purpose, people are screaming loads of random crap in all caps and so on and you’re picking on me for not capitalising the word “bah”. That is really unfair.
Repeatedly being twice,
maybe three times. Like I said, there have been many more flagrant grammatical problems in this thread, but you are choosing to single this out.
Well the second time was in a gamethread,
I didn’t realise that the same rules applied. Like I said, human error, and in a thread like this when you’re just typing as quickly as you can after an event happens, sometimes with much emotion you don’t necessarily think about it.
This is the kind of thing that is not enforced for a single violation
it’s a request based on a repeated pattern of not capitalizing the first words of your sentences.

It's a request that I'm more than happy to follow
the times today I haven’t done it have been in either in a game thread, or by accident.
Correct
and capitalization is still important

I do not believe so.
At least, the announcers haven’t mentioned anything about it. Hopefully he’s good for about 95 pitches.

I've always wanted to make a "Thriller" remake, but with Jesus re: Easter.
Zombie Jesus dancing, then something like…
“Because it’s Easterrrrr, Easter day / The Romans crucified me but I’ve risen from the grave / etc. etc.”
I think a lot of people may take offense to that.
I don't like it when the radio announcers start off with
“A grounder up the middle…”
then
“And lopez goes to his right and throws him out.” It always scares me.
They keep talking about Metro's gameday service cuts on the radio and every time I get a little more pissed.
Yeah, what gives with that?

I wish they would explain what the federal regulation actually says they can't do.
I tried to find details on the intarwebs, but came up empty.

It's worth noting that Bedard is doing phenomenally
and not just at pitching, which he’s also doing really well at today.
When you’re watching a rookie no-no your lineup, I think it would be pretty easy to press, or throw a little harder, or get competitive, but Bedard is gazing into the middle distance and throwing orgasmic parabolas, and then when the inning is over, he activates the same identical smirk and jogs his impassive butt to the dugout.
I realize we haven’t had a lot of experience with him, but there’s nobody I’d rather have in this kind of situation. You know Felix would press.
Kurt Suzuki looks really happy in his gameday picture.
