Russ is a sexy beast
If Branyan equaly Sexson's 2005 I will laugh the laugh of the ages.

Of course.
My point is that we paid Sexson a truckload of money and gave him four years while Branyan was cheap and required no commitment.

*into*... now he is back to Johjima
The missed catch is a much talked topic…
If it gets scored an E it at least takes two ER off of Felix.
A's stadium announcer
Sounds like he could croak any second
there was nothing close
at least not at second base
I dont believe this.
I SIMPLY CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE HOW WOUND UP THIS GAME IS MAKING ME FEEL.

Clement is blocking Clement

Clement isn't blocking Clement
The front office is blocking Clement
Yeah, the FO sent him down to AAA and that wasn't the best move.
But Clement didn’t do a whole lot to earn a spot on the roster. It was between him and Rob Johnson and Johnson beat him out

It should never have been a competition
and spring training stats don’t matter. He needs to face major league pitching, period.
I don't think it was his hitting that they were that concerned about
From all accounts I’ve heard his defense was terrible. I agree he needs extended look at ML pitching but the DH slot was kinda full and his defense was to the point they didn’t want him catching in the big leagues.

Just 94 pitches for Felix. Couldn't he go one more?
Also not one groundout. 7 FO’s 8 K’s
He pitched poorly, no need to prolong the torture.

We need to have an uplifting comeback first
Then we can get our hearts ripped out of our collective chests!
I have no hope for this game
The ump decisions + Kenji being an idiot make me feel this is destiny to be a loss.
I've been impressed how that kind of thinking has turned out to be wrong this season.
Not that I can blame you…
Cmon M's please have a five run rally right here ... please?

Morrow's getting absolutely robbed on Gamecast
In the first at bat at least. All five pitches caught all of the white fuzzy strikezone.
I'd prefer if it was not freed from him.

just don’t swing

Lopez wanted him to get the strikeout for confidence boosting reasons
Jeez that was overly stressful
Really nice win though!

the M’s are on pace to allow 594 runs while scoring 837 over the course of the season

I cannot believe that we won that.
The A’s must feel awful. Felix was poor, our non-poet relievers walked the world, our lineup sucked and we had two big errors but still won the ballgame.
And I am very happy. VERY happy. BIG happy.
Yet I get a sad feeling that this team is in for some heavy regression against the better ballclubs…
Either way, yay we are fun to watch again! [apart from our heart-attack bullpen].
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.
Felix did K 8
And the ump was squeezing both Morrow and Lowe a bit
I disagree about the strikezone I thought it was consistent most of the game if pretty small.
Gameday didn’t seem to match up with the pictures.
And Felix sucked. Lot’s of strike 3 called and no GB’s.

by EnglishMariner on Apr 11, 2009 4:38 PM PDT up reply actions
I think a consistently small strike zone is an enormous fault.
This an isn’t original thought, but every aspect of the game suffers from a consistently small strike zone as compared to a consistently big strike zone. They take longer, they mess with pitchers’ heads and arms, they’re agonizing to watch, etc. It distorts the game much less to have a consistently big strike zone because the hitters will adjust pretty quickly (much easier than the pitchers adjust to the small ones). I’d even rather have an average strike zone that’s inconsistently called than a consistently small one.
I hate small strike zones.

Amazing moment in the KC/NYY game.
Swisher hits a FB to RF off HoRam. Bloomquist, racing towards the line, dives about 10 feet away from where the ball landed. It goes into the corner for a triple.
