How does that work?
How can a game be nationally blacked out?

I'd be fine with that if Fox actually showed the goddamn games!
I’ve got Angels/Red Sox on Fox.

I'm more upset at teams for scheduling the games during the blackout times.
by Mariner John on Apr 11, 2009 12:24 PM PDT up reply actions
It pushes people to the games.
If you can’t see it on TV, theoretically more local people will go the the game. Oakland doesn’t care about you getting to see The King, they care about their bottom line.
Tools Whore
I think there's a misunderstanding
The reason for the blackout is because FOX thinks if you are watching MLB.tv or DirectTV, you aren’t watching their national game on FOX. They think that everyone who wants to watch baseball will suddenly go to FOX cause the game they want to see is blacked out. I am violating their thinking right now.
It’s not the owners. It’s FOX. Fuck them.
But what John was saying is that
every team who’s not going to be on Fox shouldn’t schedule their games during the national blackout time. And that is where my argument came in. I know in a few instances last year the Rays did this with 7:00pm games. The local networks didn’t carry them on a Saturday to try and drive up attendance.
Tools Whore
last year, almost all the a's Sat games were 6 PM games

I love Wak.
Groundball pitcher in Felix and Wak improves the infield defense by going with Cedeno over Lopez.
How do you explain last night and Junior in RF with RRS out there?
Why not start Griffey today vs a worse LH pitcher, and with a groundball/strikeout pitche on the mound?
He was wrong last night, I didn't say he was perfect.
Plus, I’m willing to give him a bit of a pass on the outfield until Ichiro returns.
Texas has been defeated.
Rodney was really impressive getting the save, his change up was outstanding and his 4FB was hitting 96 mph on Fox’s gun.

MLB looks to be doing an excellent job locking down feeds.
The NBA has been very lax, and the NFL caught on toward the end of the year.
For those of you who are desperate
As far as I can tell (I have been doing this all week), MLB.tv only runs an IP check… so even if it can resolve your location (which it can on my proxy), it won’t give you an active link to the M’s game on the MLB.tv webpage…
Here are the steps to get this to work:
1) Find a working proxy outside the US (be persistent, there are internet lists of thousands of proxies, you just need to find one that works)
2) Go to the Yahoo! Box Score for this game, you will find a direct MLB.tv link there (but don’t click)
3) Enable your proxy, then click the link
4) Your proxy may be slow as hell, but let it load up and login to MLB.tv
5) MLB.tv will determine your proxy IP is outside the US, and load up the stream
6) Once the stream is fully loaded and streaming (albeit very slow), turn off your proxy, and all will be normal.
Enjoy!
Which is like everyone.
I fucking hate you Mariners

by oscartehgrouch on Apr 11, 2009 1:12 PM PDT up reply actions
I have it, but a lot of people don't.
If you only have time to watch the Mariners most of the time and you already pay for cable, it’s kind of pointless.
Also, I’ve never had to use a proxy for anything, so if I wasn’t at work and wanted to watch the game your post would have been confusing to me. It’s not fair to assume we\everyone knows how to do this stuff.

Live audio is not being allowed on MLB.com either right now!?! When the heck did this happen
I also have audio.
But it’d be really sweet if you could have Gameday in this same popup window, rather than having them separate.
It's there, but it's FUCKING HARD AS HELL TO FIND.
Just go to the Mariners MLB homepage, click on the “listen to Gameday Audio!” link, and find the KIRO link on the page it takes you to.
I agree with it’s a pain in the ass that you can’t get to it on the Gameday tracker anymore. WTF is up with that?

There is no option for the A’s broadcast unless you want the Spanish Audio version – which, of course, works beautifully.

this is a good guide... but
if your proxy isn’t high-level, mlb.tv website is going to resolve that you are still in the US.
So when you go to the mlb.tv website, you won’t have a clickable link.

Quick question
Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the archived games to show up on mlb.com? I know they say “45 minutes”, but that never happens. Last night’s game wasn’t up until this morning.
It gets better as the season progresses.
First week or so are always bug filled.
I think they show up a lot faster for Premium subscribers.
As the season goes on they get better, but a day or two for standard mlb.tv seems the wait now.
