LL Watchman outing: ROLL CALL!
I'm in, who else should I be looking for? Cinerama in Seattle. Are we planning on meeting anywhere before the outing? How many words must I type before I reach the 75 word minimum. Seriously, roll call threads are a good thing. I haven't read the comics for this but Sin City and 300 were amazing movies and I have decided to place all my faith for this movie in Zack Snyder. 75.

I'll be getting down there around 11 pm or soish
See you folks there
I'm also looking at 11pm
I have basketball earlier, so I can’t get in line until then. I have a couple of other geeky friends that will be there… probably already waiting in line.
I’ll keep an eye out for you etown!
Also
Once our spot in line is confirmed, we’ll try to sneak over to the grocery store across the street. They have a lounge where you can drink as many Sparks as you can handle!
FUCK ME
Cinerama is sold out. I guess I’m out.
Hardball Review Because we need another blog about the Mariners.
Sorry we missed you Etown
Jimmimoose and I drank some Sparks and the movie kind of rocked.
But I don’t think people under the age of 30 should really go see it.
I'm under 30 and I was conscious for the Cold War.
And I listened to enough Dead Kennedys to fill in the gaps.

Fair enough...
and it’s not like I have to be 70+ to know that Nazis were bad.
Given how the cold war ended… with more of a whimper than a bang… cold war paranoia seems silly in retrospect. I think it would be hard to accept the movie’s world if you didn’t live through that time. In the 80’s we actually thought there was a better than 50% chance that the USSR and the US would blow up the entire planet.
I was joking (mostly) about the DK thing.
I think you may be correct if we’re talking about people under 20.

What is so great about Cinerama anyway
Isn’t this releasing in IMAX? The Dark Knight in IMAX was sooooooo awesome.
Damn I hate not being in Seattle
Though I am seeing it in IMAX tomorrow.
I'll be there....
In Bellingham, at Sehome Cinemas. You know, if anyone else here happens to live in Bellingham.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
I used to live about a block away from Sehome Cinemas
Kind of a crappy theater though.
I was really bored so I played around with MS Paint...

You got slurved bitch.

That's actually pretty tight
Why would I watch Transformers when I can play with them at my house?

With all the crazy hype this is getting, it's amazing that before this movie starting getting mentioned
I had never even heard of Watchmen.
You can't hide from the omnipresent eye.
Why are you there? Linfield?
I fucking hate you Mariners
Given the 2 hour 40 min time constraint
I thought it was excellent.
Thoughts?
Good but not great.
I give them credit for holding my attention for that long, but for every really cool scene another fell flat.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be
But I was still disappointed. I think my biggest complaint was the casting; they didn’t really capture the essence of the characters or the sheer weight of the themes in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the Watchmen motion comic on iTunes much more.
And what's funny is all of the characters were voiced by the same guy
But he pretty much nailed all of them in my opinion.
Yes it does
I would highly recommend everyone buy the season pass for it, I think I enjoyed it even more than the graphic novel.
Yeah
The movie had it’s moments but I found the movie to be subpar.
Having never read the comic book, I’m not sure how true it stayed to the source material.
I will say that I found most of the song choices in the film to be… questionable. Maybe I missed what the director was trying to with his song choices but I think it would have been better to go in a different direction with the songs he chose.

I actually liked most of the music
the way they used All Along the Watchtower was amazing

It was uncanny
how the director used lines like “a wildcat did growl” and “two riders were approaching” and “the wind began to howl” to sync up with the movie visuals.
And also a nice touch for the camera to flip upside down as Archie crashes on the lip of the cliff… just as Jimi’s guitar goes into spacey (maybe recorded backwards?) solo.

Bingo

The only tune I didn't really like was Simon and Garfunkle at the Comedian's funeral
The “Hello darkness my old friend” with the long shot of the graveyard monument seemed lame.
Also there was some Mark Knopfler-sounding guitar garbage they would play whenever Dan was looking sad in his basement… that part kind of sucked too.
But I loved the Bob Dylan opening montage. That made me forgive any other dubious choices.
