If RRS comes out throwing 97 it'll be like we didn't lose anything at all.

While we can never actually know what Niggerwings intelligence level actually is

I find it rather rude that Jeff come out and call him stupid. It would be one thing if Jeff was actively taking part in the conversation but to have him swoop in with his hate talk and fly away just rubs me in the wrong way.

I once took a bottle of Flintstones vitamins and ate half the bottle before my parents found me.

One Flintstones is tasty, but after you eat like ten, it becomes like cement mix. But hey, I was five years old at the time. Things might have changed since then.

Just checked the cupboard.

I have two bottles that total 400 Flintstones. Problem is, they have an expiration date of September 2005. It might only take one to taste like cement mix.

Also, a nice warning on the side:
WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is the leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6.

This explains the cement mix texture.

I had to copy the link location and paste to figure it out.

I figured maybe RRS would try to use his burgeoning celebrity to endorse a line of geometrically interesting bubble gum.

I eat a consistent diet of Taco Bell.

I just wanted to know if this numbness in my jaw and left arm were cause for concern. Instead I get snark about cancer, fuck you guys I’m gonna go stick my finger in a light socket and see if that fixes anything.

Also, I'm not funny punchline guy. Better suited for set-up straight man role.

People have roles in life, it’s important to recognize limitations.

Silva and Betancourt especially.

There are no good individual basketball statistics.

The food item is spelled rolls.

It sounds the same as roles though so I can see how you might have been confused.

Jeff,

I know you like to use humor in your comments and writings, but allusions to slavery are hurtful to my African-American brethren. The concept of owning a person is dated and we would all do best to move past that particular blight on our history.

Twas a terrible, terrible use of homophones.

How many people have to die, Mr. Selig?

How many people have to die before you realize that extra spring training is a bad idea?

Also maple bats and no nets are probably not helping.

RRS no longer needs to hit 97.

He just needs to get a few hundred ABs, and be a passable reliever. Screw Brooks Kieschnick, we’ve got Ryan Rowland-Smith!

I meant

Why is it a bad idea?

by Tony S on Mar 30, 2009 2:07 PM PDT up reply actions

You are forgetting who is in front of him

Let’s say you have Endy Chavez or Rob Johnson as leadoff in that scenario.

30% chance one of them is on base before Ichiro. It’s even really a 100% chance if you really think about it.

In the event they are on before Ichiro, he can extend the inning to the cleanup hitters, bunt his way on base while moving a runner, or even hit for power. Then he could easily steal more bases.

Assuming Griffey is batting cleanup. Griffey! Need I say more?

Hey look. RRS has as many walks as Yuni in Spring Training.

Daaaamn

Wish we could’ve seen that, sounds like it was hit a mile.

Mark Reynolds has 7 errors in 19 ST games so far?

I realize it’s both SSS and ST, but that’s putrid.

by abender20 on Mar 30, 2009 2:55 PM PDT reply actions

He's like a lesser Ryan Braun.

And like a greater Mike Morse.

Time to change positions.

by Wilder. on Mar 30, 2009 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Mike Wilson tied the game in the 9th with his 2nd HR of the day.

Ties him for ST record with Buhner and Griffey! Who’s Mike Wilson!?!

by Kermit. on Mar 30, 2009 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Who's Mike Wilson?!?

Only the 2008 Southern League HR champ, that’s who.

PCL champ in 2009? Late-blooming Marcus Thames clone, or the black Rob Stratton? Come on down to Tacoma and find out!

You know, I'll probably be doing that a few times this year, might even get some Aquasox passes.

I’m a bit more excited about the minors now, they never used to factor into my thinking. Plus kids and all, a lot more reasons to be interested in the M’s minor leagues than in the past. The Braves were investing so heavily in their minor league system they bought an extra minor league team, or so I read. That would be a pretty sweet.

by Kermit. on Mar 30, 2009 5:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Whoa... it's like I don't even know where I'm at anymore.

What team is this and wherever the M’s went I hope they don’t ever come back.

by Kermit. on Mar 30, 2009 6:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Bavasi added a team in the Appalachian league - Pulaski.

The M’s had a team in the Arizona league and then a moderate jump up to short season ball (Everett). Last year was the first time they added an intermediate stop (the Pioneer league and Appy league are often thought of as a step above the Arizona/Florida rookie leagues and a step below the short-season NY-Penn and Northwest leagues).

What was RRS throwing today?

Churchill reported a week. or so ago that he was all the way down at 85-86. Back up to his usual 89-91 self today?

by seattlebruin on Mar 30, 2009 9:35 PM PDT reply actions

No.

But he’s just not going to throw 91 as a starter. It sounded like he threw harder than 85, and below 90.
I just don’t think there’s a story here – it Spring Training, he’s pitching purely as a starter, etc. Was it Drayer who asked him about it, and he said he was still stretching his arm out?
