Hey apparently looked pretty iffy in ST and they want to keep his innings down.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions
I would imagine servie time might be an issue as well.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 1:46 PM PDT up reply actions
Isn't he a two pitch pitcher right now?
He is great out of the pen as is maybe but needs more work to start.
I think he's FB/slider/change
but I think his change needs some work.

Cough, cough...
Yeah, they “wanted to keep his innings down” and “manage his innings” so, yeah…

Similar to the line up I've been using in MLB the Show
with a few flip flops, Griffey/Beltre, Kenji/Sweeney and Yuni/Guti. Oh and I generally use Clement. It seems to be fairly effective.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
Actually now that I think of it
I guess I do bat Beltre 4th.

HEY OHHHHHH
Itd be less funny if it wasn’t so true
by seattlesundevil on Mar 26, 2009 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah it's rough to hear him sometimes
I love the guy – grew up listening to him and think of him like a Grandfather figure (never met him – just through the radio).
But he’s having some trouble this year (to put it diplomatically). Not sure if it’s his eyesight or what. I’m hopeful that calling a game at Spring Training is simply more difficult and once he gets back into the majestic American League ballparks he’ll be fine. I hope. Regardless, I love hearing his voice and hope they let him stay on the air as long as he wants.
We'll see how long Betancourt stays in it.
Otherwise, it’s OK. Not sure about Gutierrez in 9th, but don’t care too much either way.
Yes, somewhat disappointing that they can’t get to Sir Ponson, but the line-up’s all right.
I'd greatly prefer Yuni hitting 9th.

I love it that Ichiro is not only a traditionally preferred leadoff hitter
but also optimal in that slot from an analytical point of view.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 1:59 PM PDT up reply actions
Weird Stats for Ichiro Today
2 hits in 3 ABs, but because of a double play and a caught stealing, he’s made 3 outs in three trips.
Yuni completely flaming out as a Mariner would be depressing.
by JI on Mar 26, 2009 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes.
As much as people would probably rejoice about it, it would mean another blue-chip M’s prospect crashed and burned.
I remember watching him in AAA thinking that our IF defense would be set for 10 years.
I remember watching him in MLB and thinking the same thing >:(
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:05 PM PDT up reply actions
I still wonder if he'd be OK at 2B.
He’s got a bit of experience there (in AAA anyway) and doesn’t need quite the range. Of course he’d need better reaction and quickness in general. But his inaccurate arm might play a little better there. Who knows…

I wonder if he gives a good god damn at this point.
Tuesday night there was a slow roller up the middle that he didn’t even come close on and Lopez almost gloved it on the SS side of the bag. He just does not appear to try anymore.
Didn’t he have discipline issues with his manager in Cuba?
I see
I just noticed it says Felix has 21 strikes and 8 balls. So assuming that was accurate (which I don’t think it is) he’s thrown 8 balls to two hitters and 0 balls to everyone else.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
ST Gameday only counts balls that led to a walk
so you’ll only get multiples of four.

Listen to this guy instead of me since I haven't used ST Gameday

A mini review of Pepsi "natural"
It is better than normal pepsi but not as good as mexi coke. Possibly better than regular coke.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
I can't tell whether you're being serious or alluding to those Godawful commercials.
But it does actually annoy me when “natural” is bandied about in such a way; I make food that is both “natural” and a complete and total nutritive disaster all the time.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:17 PM PDT up reply actions
I'm never serious and "natural" is among the most abused words in the English language
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:23 PM PDT up reply actions
Indeed it is.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the end result of the process for creating “natural flavors” chemically almost exactly the same as “artificial flavors”?
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:27 PM PDT up reply actions
A natural flavor has a certain chemical structure
An artificial flavor has another (oftentimes similar) chemical structure. That’s it. That’s the only meaningful difference. As far as chemicals are concerned, origin means nothing.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:32 PM PDT up reply actions
I don't eat artificial sugar because it tastes like ass.
I’m also really into agave nectar as a sweetener but I think that’s mainly because I like the idea of putting cactus ooze in my tea.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:45 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, artificial and natural sweeteners have a lot way to go (stevia's gross)
but as far as the end result is concerned, a chemical is a chemical, and the only thing that matters is whether or not it’s toxic. And a lot of chemicals in nature will try to kill you.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:47 PM PDT up reply actions
Stevia is terrible.
But yes, that’s the other thing. Hemlock is natural but I don’t really want to ingest it.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:48 PM PDT up reply actions
You know what's in agave nectar?
Fructose and glucose.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:48 PM PDT up reply actions
Are they similar enough that your body processes them the same way?
Because if so, dammit.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:52 PM PDT up reply actions
HFCS is 55% fructose and 45% glucose
agave is 56-92% fructose and ~the rest glucose.
You’re not doing yourself any favors.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 3:00 PM PDT up reply actions
Well that's an onion in the ointment.
Back to raw sugar.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 3:01 PM PDT up reply actions
Everything in moderation.
You’re fine. You can’t possibly drink that much tea.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 3:06 PM PDT up reply actions
This
and just stay away from processed foods as much as possible.
One of my coworkers told me about an awesome article
that explained the difference (legally) between “natural” and “artificial” when it comes to flavors and scents. I wish he’d given me the link because it sounded really awesome.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
Indeed, for pretty much the same reasons
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:30 PM PDT up reply actions
Depends on the certification.
Organic can mean something that’s really important to me but it can also mean absolutely nothing. Generally it means nothing.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 2:36 PM PDT up reply actions
Right
I would rather have something that is said to be organic than something that is said to be natural, but both words are horribly abused and misused.
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 26, 2009 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions
Sustainable and green are getting there too.
These words lose meaning for me when everyone starts using them as a label for how they operate.
My girlfriend hates
when I tell her all food is organic.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
I like it when they call cheese "Real" cheese.
Where “Real” is the name of the company that makes the not-so-real cheese..
Not if you buy Mexi or Kosher coke!
Although I haven’t lived in a nice enough neighborhood to find Kosher coke.

I'd rather drink unflavored soda water.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 3:04 PM PDT up reply actions
I'm just not a fan of fizz generally unless it's in a beer
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
If I could afford todrink mineral water and soda water instead of tap water I would.
And also if that wasn’t obscenely wasteful.
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 26, 2009 3:27 PM PDT up reply actions
Not at all
which is probably why I liked it.
It does have a slight nutty flavor which is weird for a soda.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
Ruined his confidence..
Wouldn’t you want to quit something if your manager said that Carlos Silva was better than you?
by seattlesundevil on Mar 26, 2009 2:44 PM PDT up reply actions
He has had only one rough outing
And he claimed he was working on a new pitch or something. Regardless, Aardsma has been FAR AND AWAY the best reliver in ST.
It kind of worries me that they keep saying nobody has distinguished themselves yet
Even though Aardsma keeps looking good
I still think Lowe closes
But Aardsma is breathing down his neck (not literally – that would cause uncomfortable moments in the clubhouse)
Two options:
1) Try harder to be funny
2) Try less hard.
You’re in some sort of horrible limbo.
by Graham MacAree on Mar 26, 2009 4:16 PM PDT up reply actions
I dunno...
Lowe has quite the reputation with sharing the clubhouse hot tub with teammates…
