Heilman revenge game
Throw out the record books, this one means a little bit more to both teams.
Wait, baseball?
I thought we were a basketball and soccer site today.
Oh, and hockey.

I'm seriously considering following through with my threat but I think Matthew may never speak to me again.

If you want to join the ranks of
Go right ahead.
That happened after the Habs won their first round playoff series, in seven games, as a 1 seed against an 8.
Peaceful celebrations in public are amazing
Riots with burning out police cars and vandalizing stores is an epitome of douchey frat boy Neanderthal behaviour.

If you scroll down this thread really fast it looks like a really odd slide show

I sense that Jeff is tiring of Spring Training, evidenced by his one- and two-line posts.
Why would I watch Transformers when I can play with them at my house?

To tire of Spring Training Jeff would have to have liked it in the first place
I really only like ST when I’m there, otherwise I don’t really pay attention to it.

Does SBN employ Erik Bedard now?
The game threads opening lines have been so minimalist lately.

Actually, I kinda like it.

And he hits the next batter and allows a groundball base hit
Make me love you again, RRS.
Also, Chris Woodward officially has zero range.
Maybe people were scared away by all the Senators spam at the top
but there’s a game on right now and on tv no less so you’d think there’d be more interest in the GT.
That was a fantastic AB by Gutierrez
Count went to 1-2 on some questionable called strike calls, but Gutierrez refused to swing at the next 3 pitches and took a walk. Fantastic.
It's going to be tough to let Sweeney go.
Shelton is a great complement to Branyan at 1B, but Sweeney would be an excellent bat off the bench or a DH platoon with Griffey.
I want to be angry at Yuni so bad.
Still can’t bunt. Still doesn’t see a lot of pitches. But he is swinging at good pitches.
After seeing this stat, I'm not so sure I want to see him take pitches
In the past three seasons, he is 68-for-203 (.335) when swinging at the first pitch and a .199 hitter (29-for-146) on a 2-and-2 count.
I’m not a huge stat-guy like the rest of you here, but take it for what it’s worth, he is clearly a better hitter swinging at the first pitch. Unless of course you guys think it’s too small of a sample.
Last year the league hit .337 on the first pitch and .194 on 2-2
First pitch stats only consider balls in play.

That's interesting
Where do you get this kind of information? I’m interested to see what the league averages are for some other pitch counts
Who are the Friars?
According to the M’s main site that’s who we’re facing.

Ichiro just scored

I was hoping for a Japan vs Venezuela match up.
I really wanted to see Felix vs Ichiro in an actual game. It would have been must see tv.
I'm sure that
Ichiro would have definitely faced him with the zeal of a challenger.

I like that Buhner is still doing ads for you guys.
I was a huge fan of his when he played (I followed the Mariners heavily in “The Joey Era”).

I was going to make a Marc Newfield reference here, but I decided not to.
However, I was looking at the 1990 draft because of my thinking of him. I just learned Dan Wilson was selected No.7 overall (Marc Newfield was No.6). I find it hilarious Wilson became a Mariner legend while Newfield never amounted to anything.
Cora... sorry.
He’s my favorite player ever and I paid a lot of attention to whoever he happened to be playing for.

Yeah, I knew it was Joey Cora you were referring to.
But there is no “The Joey Era” in Mariners history. If there was, it lasted for maybe 5 minutes while in the dugout after Game 6 of the 1995 ALCS.
