LL Bowling: Get your bowl on TONIGHT! 7pm @ W.Seattle
Okay, so I have set up a time at West Seattle Bowl for March 31 at 7pm. We have at least two hours of bowling time reserved. I have also set aside two lanes but I could set aside more if we need them.
Cost is league rate, $17 per lane per hour. I'll probably put an estimated "money to bring" total when we get closer, but I'll figure that $10 would be plenty and if we have enough people it might get you a drink.
I never rent shoes, so I forget how much they're going to cost, but it'll probably be $2 or $2.50 for that.
By my count here we have 10 people:
Two Rs And Two Ls
tootthekazoo
James F'n X
kevin_ess (+2)
Thingray (+ Jeanuts)
Sec 108
Eyebrows
Assuming everybody shows and we bowl 2 hours, it should be approx. $7 per head for the bowling itself, then I'll talk the guys at the counter into giving me $2.50 on shoes for y'all if you tell 'em you're with me. Turns out I was pretty good on the $10 estimate early on. I figure we might bowl a little longer, or some of us might, since I always have to bowl three games when I go and with 5 on a lane that might take us a while.

I'm going to try to make this with Jr. and the missus.
prepare to be dominated with a 65 score once again, serfs.
Illegible
League bowls Tuesday night on the side with the automatic bumpers
so I hate to tell you this, but I can’t bring ’em out for you/Jr.

West Seattle, eh?
Quite a trek, but I’ll check my schedule to see if I can do it.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
I tried to make it a little later so that it'd be conceivable.

I usually get off work about 6:00 (in Shoreline), so I'd have time to get down there,
but since I do accounting and that’s the last day of the month it might be more difficult. I’m going to try though!

It's nowhere near as far as Renton, and you did that before
I’ll make fun of you if you think West Seattle is too far

But Renton wasn't on the last day of the month,
that makes it much more difficult because of my job.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
I could have made it Friday, I suppose.

It's not the day, its the date.
Anytime right by the end of the month, or right at the beginning of the month it’s tough for me because that’s my busiest time.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Fridays I have softball, so there would have been no way I could go.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Well that's what I get for not trying to make it next week or right-the-fuck-now.
Way to be considerate. Gosh.

Yeah, but baby needs a new pair of shoes, and daddy needs a 40 of Old E.

Makes plenty of sense to me

I'll be there.
Representing the Angels in our recreation of the AL West medioctrity in bowling form. Unless one of you is a ringer.

There's no way I qualify as a ringer.
I’ve linked in the OFFTOPs to videos of my own bowling. There’s probably $800 in bowling equipment in my car, usually.

I also do not qualify as a ringer
I think you and I will have to be a team all by ourselves. I got razzed plenty as-is at the last one, and I think having 2 of us there will just exacerbate things

Could you kindly tell me where you park during the evening hours of the day and the neareast pawn shop to said location?
by Aaron Campeau on Mar 20, 2009 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions
Used bowling equipment will unfortunately be worth nothing to a pawn shop
Ebay would be your best bet, and I will withhold information about how much I equipment I always have in my car

Bowling balls aren't supposed to be left in the car overnight.

If you don't leave golf balls and clubs in the car
you can’t be ready to golf at a moment’s notice, after all.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
This is why I always have my bowling balls
The overnight in the car risk is not much of a deal, really.

I leave a couple discs in my trunk just in case I get chance to throw.
I do not leave good ones in there though because they can heat warp pretty easily and then they no longer fly straight.
Now I know which disks I was using. : )
When you don’t have game excuses and alibis are the next best thing, don’t think for a second I haven’t learned something from following the Mariners all these years.
Of course, right now I'm a reverse ringer.
I bowled four games tonight and topped out at 170. The lanes were so scorched that I left the big four ON CONSECUTIVE SHOTS.
And I’m not the kind of guy who leaves big splits; I’m the guy who leaves the bucket and tons of washouts because the ball has one and a half revs.
by Two Rs and Two Ls on Mar 21, 2009 12:55 AM PDT up reply actions
Damn, that sucks
I throw a very similar shot to yours, and wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I left consecutive big fours. Worst I see for consecutive splits is the 4-6, which I did 3 times in the first 5 shots in game 3 of my league on Wednesday. Then, once I found the shot again and got the next 2, I stepped in some spilled beer that nobody cleaned up. Planted my slide foot in the eighth frame and my body landed about halfway to the arrows. My knee still hurts from that. The worst part is that I converted off the foul and hit the 9th and first of the tenth, before leaving another 4-6. With my first 2 games being a 213 and 224, I left the bowling alley unhappy

I think I left the 4-9 split on the next shot after the consecutive big-fours too.
Thank God it was just practice, but I was rather miffed.

Ouch.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Very much so
I knelt down to look under a bumper this morning and put my weight on it and realized that it is still sore. This sucks. I’d never fallen down while bowling until that point, and I hope to never do it again. I hit myself on the side of my ankle, where the bone comes to the skin (stirrup, I guess it is) a couple of times when I was younger and changed my entire approach because I never wanted to feel that pain again

Shoes
Not that it matters but the website says shoes are $3.50 to rent unless you can get a league price of 2 bucks. Always makes it seem worthwhile to own your shoes. More hygienic too.
Thingray is in along with Jeanuts.
Can we get some directions?
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Short Version
Take I-5 toward South Seattle, take exit to West Seattle Bridge. Keep Left.
West Seattle Bridge will end with an exit to Fauntleroy Way, take this exit. Go straight through a couple of lights until you hit Oregon St. There will be a Midas on your right before this turn. Go up the hill a block, WSB is on your left. You can park in front of the church across the street if you have to.

Sounds pretty simple.
No shoes for us, we have our own. And I’m a “have to bowl three” kind of guy too, so I might be willing to keep bowling after the standard two hours as well.
Besides, I have to be at the airport at midnight to pick up our boy anyway, so I might as well kill time in Seattle instead of heading back north.

Looks like nine or so...
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
I am in for sure now. Trying to talk my better half into joining, but that will be a gametime decision.
Awesome.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
If we end up with more than 10, I'm probably going to try to get three lanes.
Unfortunately, that’ll raise prices.
by Two Rs and Two Ls on Mar 30, 2009 5:59 PM PDT up reply actions
They still won't be that high.
I’d rather have three lanes and pay more instead of trying to cram 6 onto one lane or something.

I know what you mean, but that sounded kind of weird when you put it that way.
