Call me crazy, but i think the DR could have escaped defeat had they asked Pujols to play for them. That guy might be and up and comer, but he is a good ballplayer.
Games for Thrusday:

Edit: Hey that's neat, how'd I do that?

But on the other hand A-Rod didn't play for Holland and they won
which just proves that he chokes when it matters.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
He didn't play for the USA either and they've won all their games so far so he must be like cancer
I bet you get cancer from steroids too

Wow
They have been relying on that kind of crap from the other teams to win. They can’t do it themselves :-(

Halman
To anybody that has seen any of the games, how does his approach at the plate look.

Pitch distribution
If you can provide specifics. Is he only being fed breaking pitches or fastballs also? Is there contact on fastballs or fouling off of breaking balls?
by tdot mariner fan on Mar 11, 2009 2:59 PM PDT up reply actions
He's missing everything that moves and mostly everything that doesn't
by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 11, 2009 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Don't all pitches move?
I mean, it’s not tee ball.
by JI on Mar 11, 2009 3:04 PM PDT up reply actions
He looks like an A-typical Mariners hitting prospect.
I.E. totally incapable of laying off bendy things and generally cannot hit anything else either.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.

When I saw him last year, he basically swung wildly at everything
if it was a fastball in the zone, it was going to get crushed
by seattlebruin on Mar 11, 2009 4:14 PM PDT up reply actions
So basically, it's like whenever I am batting with Clement in The Show
I am no longer in Spokane, but I think I'll keep the name anyway.
Well, I haven't been paying much attention, but
he’s looking lost on breaking pitches
by shinallsrevenge on Mar 11, 2009 3:01 PM PDT reply actions
Thanks for the info
I am really down on his ability to make contact right now to the point I do not see him as a top 100 prospect. I hope he manages to improve.
by tdot mariner fan on Mar 11, 2009 3:04 PM PDT up reply actions
He's a very good prospect even if his contact only improves to average
he’s got a ton of power and it’s very possible he sticks in center. Worst case, he’s a plus corner. His bat profiles well enough there anyway.
by seattlebruin on Mar 11, 2009 4:15 PM PDT up reply actions
The Giants want pudge to play 3B? That's random
by shinallsrevenge on Mar 11, 2009 3:05 PM PDT reply actions

The hell are they thinking?
Lopez has made 3 outs in 10 at-bats. And has 15 total bases. Booooo Luis Sojo.

Yeah but look at the total number of games they're playing.
With position players, I don’t think they really need that much rest. But, point taken that the game doesn’t mean much. Though now they get Netherlands, which despite their run, are not as good as Puerto Rico.

THe USA game is a good chance to beta test the new mlbtv player
The picture is fantastic but it won’t sop freezing up.

Well shit
The feeds at http://atdhe.net/ stopped working for me…looks like they switched their media player and my browser isn’t taking it.
I kept trying that last night, it finally popped up a window saying I needed a new plug in.
After it loaded no problems, today I’ve got nothing.
I think it's hosed
It’s not working on my windows box with IE7 and current plugins either.
by appleshampoo on Mar 11, 2009 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions
Going for me now, turned off adblock, allowed pop ups, restarted Firefox.
Also deleted the numbers at the end of the link, then linked to the game through the main page.
Eric Young just said Raul Ibanez will be a big defensive improvement for the Phillies.
I wailed out some unintelligible sound for about a minute. I’m pretty sure I just had an aneurism.
It's because I don't watch him daily...
But I just can’t fathom that he’s worse. I know people say that but it’s incomprehensible.
YES YES YES
The new mlb media player is sooooooooooo much better than last year, the quality is fantastic!

Although the delay seems even worse
than the old MLB.tv, Gameday becomes Spoilerday.

HEY JI -
Beltran hasn’t looked quite so foolish going down on strikes since…well, you know when.
Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism
Dunno if this is has been posted, but in the Comic Irony Department
Jair Jurrjens declined to participate in the WBC because he didn’t want to just pitch one game for the Netherlands and then go home. Oops!
Although I’m hearing rumors that he may join the team for the second round. Is that even allowed under the rules?
Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism
Not caring too much about these games.
These 6th games are annoying…let’s just get on to the next round without burning more pitchers.
Will be watching (hopefully) Australia vs. Mexico rematch though.

Understandable
I’m at work for 2 more hours so the background noise is handy.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
Why are the sixth games necessary?
Couldn’t the team who wins their first two games overall automatically qualify as the #1 seed or whatever and call it good?
If the USA has to use Ted Lilly and Guthrie, I guess it makes more sense to use them when sucking is ok.

It's difficult
My rational desire to see my team succeed vs. my arguably irrational desire to see Jeter fail.

I can't root for team USA in this tournament.
With Pedroia and Jeter on the team…just not possible.

I disagree with this statement and feel that a fundamental part of what makes America awesome is the right to choose not to root for America

"Campillo pulls the string"
I keep hearing this term used by the announcers, I’m pretty sure it means when the pitcher throws a curveball. I’ve never heard it before, anyone know the origin?
On second thought
It may be just any time they get a swinging strikeout.
by appleshampoo on Mar 11, 2009 7:45 PM PDT up reply actions
It refers to the throwing motion
It’s like the pitcher is pulling a string with his hand.

I'm having some choppiness issues.
Not sure if it’s me or the feed. My computer’s only a few months old and runs video pretty well, so I’m guessing (hoping?) it’s on MLBAM’s end.
My computer is old too
But usually I can run a game thread, the tv, card and mlbtv without much of a problem.
The mlbtv feeds have been a bit choppy.
Also if you have the mlbN the Mariners 30 in 30 will probably be worth watching, the Cardinals 30 in 30 was.
by JI on Mar 12, 2009 6:36 PM PDT up reply actions
I've got the DVR set.
Recorded the D-Backs one today on accident because I misread the date. Looks like they do a pretty good job.
Definitely worth watching
They’re going to be interviewing Bedard, that should be fun to watch.
I like how the preview says the Mariners "Were once considered the model organization."

Bedard was surprisingly comfortable. Maybe it’s because it was only one reporter, but he seemed quite comfortable.
Wow back to back jacks for Mexico
Same pitch, same result
