Spring Training - Friday 13th in Tucson
I am wondering if anyone has interest in getting together either before, during, or after the Mariners game Friday the 13th against the Diamondbacks at Tucson Electric Park?
I'll be going to the game, and have seats in section 108.
Also, I have a question to anyone who knows more than spring training than I do, which probably leaves everyone: do you know how the Mariners decide who goes where for split squad games? Friday's game in Tucson is half of a split squad game, with the other half up in Mesa as the M's take on the Cubs.
Will there be a list released at some point of players who will be heading down to Tucson?

I've actually been trying to get Friday off so that I can go to that game
But so far, all attempts have failed. The annoying part is, I work about 2 miles from TEP. The split squad is likely to be pretty bare though, what with the WBC stealing a bunch of players and all..

They don't usually put forth the criteria for who goes where
but in a lot of cases, for split squad games the bigger stars of the team don’t travel – which is moot now because of the WBC. So it’ll just be a grab bag of random players down there I think.
TEP’s a nice park, by the way.

True that, it could be worse… It could be at Hi Corbett……

Hi Corbett is great for going and watching practice/drills at
There’s a complex of 4 practice fields and they let you walk right in to the middle of them. When the players change fields during drills they walk literally right past you, no fencing or anything, and the lesser-known players are always happy to talk with the fans for a while. Sometimes even the big names – I got a signed ball and a few words with Todd Helton that way. It’s a great experience.
The stadium itself, OTOH, blows.

My sister takes her kids to the park that adjoins Hi Corbett every day
and every time I’m down there in the spring when I’m supposed to be letting the kids play on the swingsets and whatnot I’m always dragging them over to the fields to watch dudes play baseball. Someday she’ll catch on and ban me from taking her kids to play, but for now it’s fun.
