Washburn for Closer in '09!
Jim Street really lays the sugar on thick, don't he?
My least favorite part of the article - and that's saying a lot - was this little snippet from Waka:
And what happens if he isn't in the rotation?
"We're not even thinking about that, but he told me he either wanted to start or close," Wakamatsu said.
If Waka even considers Jarrod for the closer role, then I'm officially taking him off of the "Guys I Wouldn't Mind Having Dinner With in a Completely Heterosexual Setting" list that I have in my back pocket.

Damn!
I know Street is something of a PR guy, but he took this one to a new level.

What?
This is the Mariner’s offical reporter! He should know inside stuff! Does this mean that Batista will be in the rotation? It is like every position is up for grabs! So exciting!
I am being sarcastic, btw.
I'd actually rather have Washburn close then start.
Because it’s far easier to lose your job as a closer than as a starter.
Probalby get the hell out of here
Asked about life after this season, Washburn said: “We’ll see at the end of the year. I am thinking right now of having a good year and then deciding. I have a good idea of what I’m going to do, but I’m not telling you.”
It's nice to know that he's thinking of having a good year.
I bet last year at this time he was hanging out in the clubhouse thinking to himself “you know what, I want to go have a real crappy year this year.”

But he HAD a good year!!
Gas and Nellie said so; he just had poor support from his teammates and some bad luck.

I remember that picture's debut, but I can't remember which game it was for.

The one I slapped together at the time was not as good.

I don't remember the exact date
Just that the bullpen had ’sploded and Washburn was the only arm ready to go at the time.
Actually it was an extra inning game vs. Texas. The bullpen didn't explode per se, the game just went on long enough that most of them had been used.
