Everyday Eddie---------> Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — "Everyday Eddie" is back with the Texas Rangers.
Left-handed reliever Eddie Guardado has signed a minor league deal with the Rangers that includes an invitation to major league spring training. Guardado was 3-3 with four saves and a 3.65 ERA in 55 appearances for Texas last season before being traded Aug. 25 to Minnesota, the team for which he was a two-time All-Star.
The 38-year-old Guardado was a key part of the Rangers bullpen last season, mainly as a setup reliever. He converted all four of his save chances when he took over as the closer briefly after C.J. Wilson had season-ending elbow surgery and before he was traded.
Deal could be worth $3 million+ with incentives.
An already legendary 'pen just got a little deeper.

I think he means that it's legendarily bad.
Except Guardado’s not that bad.

For as long as I am a baseball fan, it will amaze me that player who fail as a Mariner will be able to get work somewhere else.
I'm probably wrong, but I thought the reason Eddie wasn't needed here anymore was to get Putz in?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Kenji Johjima couldn't catch him.
Ahh, alright.
At least I was right about being wrong.

Didn't Eddie have some streak of blown saves or something?

Partial tear of his rotator cuff, initially opted out of surgical repair in lieu of physical therapy.
Never seemed to recover his ability to locate, maybe lost a little speed on his fastball (?), and if he eventually decided to have it surgically repaired it happened after he left the M’s, so I wouldn’t know much anything about it.
Meet Boston's Mike Sweeney.
FWIW, Sweeney and Wilkerson have ~ projections for 2009 (IOW, pretty bad).

I'm cool with the signing
With Benoit hurt, the Rangers can use the depth and he pitched well in Texas last year. I particularly liked the game where he came in and got a save after Wilson had been getting lit up for a few games. He came in and shut the other team (was it the one against Seattle in May?) down quickly and efficiently.
It’s a minor league deal. If he pitches well enough to get the $3 million in incentives, he’s probably worth $3 million anyway.
I remember back when Eddie imploded.
I repeatedly tried to come up with a clever nickname for Eddie involving blown saves or something, ended up not ever working. “Everyblow Eddie” was all I had, which doesn’t even remotely work.
