YES YES YES YES
Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

I’m not a financial expert, but doesn’t Chapter 11 mean they will still be around? Like, they get oversight to reorganize and pay off their debts, but they are still in business? I think a chapter 7 would be what you’re looking for…

Correct
Chapter 11 is just debt reorganization. A company can issue new debt against the earnings they will make off whatever they are financing. They essentially shelve their old debt until the new debt is paid off…pretty handy.

Well, for basics...
When I was teaching ESL (my first job out of college), I used to make up silly rhymes and dances to help them memorize grammar rules:
When a word
starts
with a vowel sound
It takes “an”
It takes “an”…
When a word
starts
with a consonant sound
It takes “uh”
It takes “uh”

Thus they are happy lousy customer service has made them go bankrupt. Please stop raining on their parade.

I ask TWO FUCKING THINGS out of a cable company
High definition hockey.
High definition baseball.
Not only do they fail to provide these things, they fail to provide high definition anything without a BIG FUCKING GREEN BOX over the screen, and in recent days their cable has provided us with absolutely no signal. And they won’t replace it because FUCK YOU THAT’S WHY.
by Graham on Feb 26, 2009 7:57 AM PST up reply actions 5 recs
The cable company that serves McCall doesn't even have HD availability
and the cable company in Laramie has very limited offering.
Click! Network in Tacoma was similarly bad with the big green box, so I guess my experience with HD has only been non-existent or bad so I don’t know what good HD is like

So.... I'd never heard of broadstripe before; can you not GET Comcast in Seattle?
I’m with pdb, I don’t know how to operate in a world in which Comcast is NOT the worst possible option.
(Tacoma municipal cable: HD hockey, HD baseball, Fox Soccer. It’s cheaper. An appropriate service for Gov’t to provide? Ehhhhhhh, but HD sports….)

by Graham on Feb 26, 2009 9:39 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
At least Comcast offers a dozen HD channels
Both of which air HD baseball and HD hockey.
by JI on Feb 26, 2009 9:43 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
You can get Comcast everywhere but downtown, the CD, Capitol Hill and the south end.
by acblue on Feb 26, 2009 12:14 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Tell me about it.
The other annoying thing is that because most of downtown, the Hill and the CD is super dense, you’re pretty lucky if you’re able to live somewhere that can get a DirecTV signal.

Yeah, but pretty much all prime time DTV is in HD
by JI on Feb 26, 2009 10:57 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
That's just not true
If you have an HDTV it might default to it, but at least where I’m familiar (eg over the air broadcasting in Tacoma), there will be a channel then an HD subchannel.
In Tacoma, FOX is channel 13 and FOX HD is channel 13.1 when you go all digital
In Laramie, where we get a lot of Denver stations, FOX is channel 8 and FOX HD is channel 92 or something
Idaho’s FOX is FOX 12, and the HD station is somewhere in the 60s
You can get it in HD, but the non HD version still exists fully. In Tacoma I didn’t have an HDTV, cable, or a converter box but had a newer TV with digital capabilities and was able to pick up the digital feeds just fine

Not here
Many stations eliminated their analogue channel on the 17th, so there is no more channel “13”
XX-1 is the digital/HD network channel
XX-2 is the sub channel with bad programming no one watches
While it’s true that XX-2 is digital, almost no one is a going out to get a digital set to watch XX-2, they’re getting it to watch the network (NBC/ABC/CBS/FOX/CW/PBS) channel, and all those stations broacast almost all of their network programming + local news in HD.
Plus, now it is nearly impossible to buy a new tv set that isn’t an HD set. So if my cable company or local station were having trouble providing HD programming I would be pissed off and rightfully so.

by JI on Feb 26, 2009 2:07 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Nope
I’ve just never spent much time (except Tacoma) where people really even know what HDTV is let alone expect it.
If you polled the city of McCall I’d wager that at least 50% wouldn’t even know what it was and less than 5% would think it is something they want to have.
It’s an expectation in Seattle and in large urban areas but HDTV is just not expected in rural America
