Taken straight from ESPN: Beltre might play in the WBC

Beltre may be playing in the WBC.  He's on the final roster, but as the rules dictate, he can be replaced with another player as long as the move is finished before the first game of the tournament.

The main concern is his surgically repaired ligament in his left thumb.  What is the general consenus here?  Let him play in the tournament or should he sit this one out and just go along with the teams rehabilitation program that I'm sure they've set up for him.

Go with team rehab.

I don’t want him to get injured because he plays in a dumb tournament.

I wouldn't have a problem with the WBC if they played it at a different time

But timing is everything and it would be hard to play at the end of the season or stop for 3 weeks in the middle for it. It’s a good concept though. However, if they were to stop MLB play for however long the tourny is, it would bring back more of the day/night doubleheaders
