Erik Bedard Is In Midseason Form
Via ESPN, via the Fanshots:
"It was pretty good," Bedard said of his first work against hitters since surgery Sept. 26 to remove a cyst from his pitching shoulder and cut away some tissue.
...
Asked if he felt healthy, Bedard said, "Yep."
...
Asked this month what the difference is between now and last year, he said simply: "It just doesn't hurt."
When RRS was asked a question by a kid on his blog about tips for growing up to become a Major League ballplayer, he replied with 174 words. When Erik Bedard was asked three questions about his first game action since shoulder surgery, he replied with nine.
Asked if he felt healthy, Bedard said, "Yep."
I love you, Erik. Never change.

The man knows exactly what to say. Actually, I’d cut the just, but that’s it.
It’s hell on the reporters, but relative to what we’re accustomed to hearing out of professional athletes, and the various stock quotes, I like its directness.
"Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." - Samuel Beckett http://mvn.com/marinersminors/
The "just" bothers me too
It’s the only thing keeping Erik from 100% efficiency.

Athletes who always want to talk about themselves = assholes.
Athletes who never want to talk about themselves = assholes!
You rock, Erik.
Can we have...

It's the economy, Manny!

No, wait, it's the new, improved Erik Bedard!
he is supposed to be on KJR wednesday aft. Like in an actual interview situation.
and I hear he has actually been seen signing autographs for fans.
He doesn't sign autographs
He just initials them.

I feel like a reporter talking to Erik Bedard is what anyone who doesn't know me talking to me is like.
And therefore, Erik Bedard is my favorite (behind Jose Lopez, who is amazing.)
There are no good individual basketball statistics.
54!
Wierd.
I tuned in KJR on the bus home, and there was a veritable chatty-cathy on-air, who I slowly realized had a faint Quebecois accent. I may have to go hunt up the podcast to find just what the new, gabby Erik Bedared had to say.
