Armstrong interview with MLB network on Griffey signing
He talks about Jack Zduriencik in this video and how he is committed to letting Jack handle the baseball side of things as opposed to meddling in the process with his own personal demands. It sounds like he is very dissappointed by last season and maybe he feels that it was partially his fault because he made bad decisions by getting too involved in the management of the team. He makes the point that signing Griffey was a purely baseball decision, which if true, is pretty surprising. You would think that the PR, ticket-sales angle would play into it on some level.
Though I'm bothered by this idea of Griffey playing in left field part-time... hopefully that is not something that will actually happen. I can't see how it would given GMZ's apparent value of defense.

Griffey for starting CF!!!
screw that Guitierrez bum. We need a real fielder and “proven veteran left handed power hitter” out there.

Per Brewer:
“I don’t want to get overly maudlin, but 2008 was the worst year of my life.”
And how much field time Griffey sees will ultimately be Wakamatsu’s call. Highly doubt he’ll see absolutely no field time, though.

I'm sure Wakamatsu's on board though.
You don’t hire a manager who doesn’t value defense properly and then build an outfield like the one we’ve built this year.
