Ms sign OF Corey Patterson to MiLB contract
He gets a Spring Training invite. He fits in as a glove guy with a modicum of upside and no risk. And hey, he played for Milwaukee! Though not under Jack.

Whoa
His defense in center was Gutierrez-esque in 2004

He looked like his shitty old self in his stint with Milwaukee.
Could be useful as long as you don’t let him lead off, though.
Oh dear God NOOOOOO!!
I watched Baker trot him out way to much. If he sees more that a couple of at bats a week it’s criminal. I watch the Reds and he was a mess.
He won't make the team
and if he does I’d imagine its because he either really, really, really raked in ST or because of a few OF injuries
I watched Baker
trot him out in Chicago. Oh dear God NOOOOOOO! captures the essence of Corey’s skills nicely.
Where is Mick Kelleher when we need him?

I wouldn't
wish either of the Patterson brothers on my worst enemy (however, if the Cardinals were to happen to take him on I wouldn’t be upset). As it is, I truly hope he doesn’t stick with you guys. After waiting and waiting for him to realize his “5 tool potential” we finally realized he was just a tool and let him go. One of Jim Hendry’s best moves. And sorry y’all missed out on the risk/reward that is Rich Harden. Better luck next time—maybe his arm will completely fall off while he’s on the mound in Arlington.

Time is an illusion--lunch time doubly so.
Seems like he's the kind of guy that's useful in the right role
and if you bat him leadoff, you’re a complete moron.
I trust he’s not leading off for Seattle.
Awesome!
This totally makes up for losing Harden

Harden seems to be the type of guy that's 333.33.........0.022+696

shit, cat on keyboard
*seems to be the type of guy that’s either an All-Star or making 13 starts of a 5.80 ERA
Cat on keyboard = green comment.

I'm just glad no one has brought out the "Play him off, keyboard cat" .gif.
But yeah, that’s sad.
Seeing that meme continue after it was treated to the best death ever made me so angry.

I missed that.
Then again, it was a meme that I wasn’t particularly aware of up until fairly recently. I looked up some of its iterations and they were pretty dumb/awful.

Not a bad guy to have in the minors.
If you have a bad run of luck on injuries, he at least offers speed and defense and a little left-handed power

I have absolutely no interest in Corey Patterson.
I look forward to him being cut in March.
We did lose Prentice Redman.

Are you saying boo, or Boo..aterson?
It's a little wrong to say a tomato is a vegetable, it's very wrong to say it's a suspension bridge
I was saying Boo-erns.

Corey Patterson is incapable of ever doing anything positive and this signing ensures a last-place finish.
Trust me, I’m a Cubs fan.

Meh.
I’ll be surprised if he’s still here after Spring Training.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
I still don't get the hatred for him.
He seems like the type of guy that, with good coaching and no more than a fourth-outfielder role, could thrive.
Well, I'm a fan of the move. Decent upside and no risk.

He robbed all of my homers in MLB The Show '06.
That counts for something.

God, why?
Why even bother? Patterson sucks.

Your screen name makes my head hurt.
I hope you don’t mind explaining its choice to me.
...and now I'm here
What is to explain?
My screen name is pretty self-explanatory: I am a fan of Carlos Silva. He is my favorite player.
Yes, I know he hasn’t been particularly good these past two seasons. But not everyone uses performance as the sole determining factor.
I look forward to his bounce-back season in 2010.

Patterson is practically free.
If it doesn’t work out, no big deal. Wish I can say the same for Silva.
I look forward to him being dismembered by ravenous polar bears when he is exiled to Greenland for crimes against humanity

This signing only makes a headline because Patterson is a joke
Seriously, the guy was on the Nationals last season and only racked up 15 PA. Nobody thinks he’s good anymore. The only reason anyone even mentions Patterson at all anymore is because he was an epic bust.
You will see Patterson in Seattle only when the rest of our outfield is on the DL and there’s a RHP starting against Seattle, which is to say, probably not at all.
Patterson is mentioned because he was putting together a very good 2003 before injury and put up 5 wins in 2004.
He even had a 3 win season with Baltimore in 2006. He isn’t without talent.
Also, he's free. Free.
Apparently some people need to find the downside in everything.
I thought I was on the side of "this is a good signing"
If he doesn’t play much, then there’s no cost right?
