Yes, he uses OPS and 'Total Bases' to say that he is overrated.
Lets see, OPS undervalues OBP, espeically walks. ‘Total Bases’ is a lot like SLG – this greatly undervalues his skills.
Obviously CHone is lower on these stats because his skill is in OBP not SLG. Fortunatley for Chone, OBP is more important.
A wOBA comparison and discussion of his defensive value would be much more accurate.
.
n 2009, he drew 101 walks, which was 36 more than he drew in any other season. Both were flukes. Take out those 2 seasons and his career OPS+ is around 93.
I ignored the rest.* The rest can’t possibly be worth reading.
(*I in fact kept reading.)
Take out his best seasons and this guy is not as good as we thought!
That is so unique among MLB players.

Peel away all the seasons that Albert Pujols had a wOBA of .400 or better...
…and you get a slash line of .000/.000/.000 with zero homeruns and zero RBI! Man, that guy can’t hit a lick!
Say it with me: Washington Capitals. Capitals.

On ESPN mobile,
every day for the last 2 weeks the “Did you know” section has Figgins as having the lowest BA of active players with 75 postseason ABs, or something like that.
