Henson: Bradley is a reckless risk for Seattle
Not sure I'm comfortable with some national writer (especially from the always-awful Yahoo) commenting on what WILL transpire in the Mariners clubhouse.

His introductory premise is off, to begin with.
“The Seattle Mariners will regret this day.”
No, we wont. We took a chance on a player with upside in a salary dump/contract exchange. We ALREADY regretted Silva (most people other than Bavasi from day 1 of him Marinerdom) and now we have a CHANCE of that mistake being erased. If it isn’t erased, so be it. At least an option— the only option available— was attempted.
Bird Law in this country isn't governed by reason.

I hate national writers who try to tackle local issues
They should stick to writing puff pieces about Josh Hamilton and Tim Tebow. No way Steve Henson could possibly hope to understand a fraction of the thought process Jack Z puts into a move.
Yeah, but...
If the Mariners don’t meet expectations in 2010, and if Bradley makes enemies with the media, the story will be that Bradley destroyed the magical clubhouse chemistry that won all those games in 2009.
You know it’ll happen.

That's probably not going to happen, though.
Not all of that.
Holmgren would have drafted Crabtree.

It would have been better if the writer actually started with "Curses, Mariners! You shall rue the day you crossed paths with Milton of Bradley!"
It makes it more like professional wrestling, which is frankly the level of writing that Steve Henson is generally at anyway.

That opening line sounds more like Skeletor.
Which might even be more awesome.

I remember being mildly optimistic when Silva started off his Mariners' career 3-0 (or was it 4-0?).
Thought he was a dandy pick-up.
…Damn.
Holmgren would have drafted Crabtree.
I had the most pessimistic projection on USSM/LL's annual fan projection polling
So I did not share your enthusiasm.
...and now I'm here
Really?
I thought it was pretty obvious even before he threw a single pitch what a disastrous contract that was. Even at his best he was never going to be even close to good enough to justify giving him 4 years/48mil.
Not to mention he was a contact pitcher with a horrible outfield defense that also struggled mightily with lefties and played half his games in Safeco
That contract was quite literally a disaster.
...and now I'm here
Some of us we're still relatively uneducated back then.
I remember feeling the exact same enthusiasm that Frog mentioned, as much as I hate to admit it.
Eh, he was always a durable ~4.40 FIP guy before the Mariners
That’s not worth 4/48, but it’s close.

Here is his response
It is draw almost down the line;
1) People from areas where he played before, stating what a headcase and problem MB will be.
or
2) People in Washington and Washington Area who support him and think that the trade should pan out.
That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.
