Alaskan LLers?

Been reading Lookout Landing for a couple of years now, rarely posted, but I've always wondered about this. Hope you won't mind indulging me on this one.

Star-divide

I've always wondered how much of the readership is Alaska. I grew up in Juneau and currently live here (escaped for four years in Texas for college), and I've always felt like we have sort of a weird relationship with the Mariners. They're technically our 'home town' team, and all of the cable companies carry full season packages on FSNW, but at the same time, we don't (or at least I don't) make it down to Seattle very much. I try and stop for at least one game every time I fly through Seattle - ironically, the last game I saw was a Carlos Silva outing, nice to know that's a thing of the past - but I didn't even see my first real live baseball game until I was 19 or so.

I remember in years past, the Ms would try and reach out a bit to their Alaskan fan base. We had a couple of circuits come through when I was a kid - I believe I still have a Brian Holman autographed card lying around somewhere. And every time I go to Mariners game these days, I'm sure to order an Alaskan Amber and wrap myself in the smug feeling that we've contributed something to the Seattle sports scene.

At any rate, love the site, keep doing what you do.

I know there's at least one LL'er that works on rigs up there

but because of that situation his posting is somewhat sporadic.

I'm from Juneau as well

Lived in Juneau up until last February and now living in Anchorage. I do believe I have one of those Brian Holman autographed pictures around somewhere as well, right next to my autographed Paul Skansi and Bill “Mad Dog” Madlock photos.

Wrangell, Alaska.

Lived there my whole life, went to college in Colorado, and now I’m heading up to Anchorage for an internship next month.

I live in Anchorage

But I am from upstate NY. I grew an M’s fan there and moved here about 3.5 years ago. I don’t post here much, but I do stop by now and then and I play in a fantasy league with some of the posters here. If there are any more of you guys in Anchorage, I am thinking about starting a franchise in the Anchorage Adult Baseball League this year and I am looking for recruits. Even if we don’t end up putting a team together, anyone in Anchorage who likes to play baseball and is over 18 should join the league this summer- I had a lot of fun last summer. Its even a wood bat league, which is awesome.

holy shit its christmas.

I have lived in Fairbanks

for the last 26 years, and I have watched broadcasting come a very long way. For the last two years, it has been my pleasure to watch the Mariners games in HD nearly every game! Such a vast improvement over the crumbs we used to be served up here by our cable provider.

Nice site here, guys.

BTW, Silva’s middle initial is “F”, correct? :)

So, in recap, that's

One current Juneauite, one in Anchorage, one in Wrangell, and one in Fairbanks.

Looks like the Alaska USSM/LL meet is going to have to be put on hiatus until, you know, our state actually gets some peeps.

I was born in Anchorage.

and my mom moved back up there. I live in Kirkland, currently, but plan on visiting Anchorage multiple times per year. If that counts at all.
