Whoa? Really? Felix and Lee in the same rotation for a season and it might only cost a couple mediocre prospects? Get it done, Jack!

They are the highest ranked prospects in the system...

aside from Ackley. I would still trade them in a seconds though for Lee. Although it would damage our chances of landing Adrian Gonzalez, but it’s doubtful the Padres let him go anyway. He makes nothing.

Not even close to an even trade, for our side at least.

Fortunately, it’s not going to happen.

Yeah pretty much exactly what I was going to post

Although you missed these other great pieces of support:
“I’ve got an even better possibility, though — and again, I’m just going on a hunch.”

“Two of the Mariners’ top prospects, outfielder Michael Saunders and right-hander Phillipe Aumont, are Canadian. How appropriate: Anthopoulos is Canadian, team president Paul Beeston is Canadian and the organization is re-emphasizing all things Canadian.”

So based upon a hunch of the genius mind of Ken Rosenthal and the nationality of two players, these deal makes a whole lot of sense. Based on virtually everything else, it does not.

Better?

I thought that due to the injury they would be considered equals, what with Triunfel still with considerably greater upside but a slowed development track.

...and now I'm here

Triunfel:
  • Was recently injured in a way that might affect his mobility
  • May have conditioning issues (although Drayer’s recent post on him was promising)
  • Still hasn’t yet learned to hit to power
  • May end up at a corner as his body-type is not necessarily suited to shortstop.

Saunders:

  • Left-handed
  • Came off a season where he just hit .300 and slugged (well) over .500 for the first time
  • Continues to improve his plate discipline

The only criticism I have of Saunders is that he struggled versus left-handers this year, but his career numbers haven’t generally shown that awful a split.

Saunders is the number two prospect in the system right now. The only way he would be otherwise is if he passed the AB threshold. People suggesting otherwise are silly.

Well, look how prescient this thread was. :)

Just saw the Cliff Lee news. I guess he is better than I had thought.

USSM is down.

Something has happened in the two hours I was in class.

yup...

you’re welcome… you’re one of the few who actually answered the original question. I think there’s a high percentage chance we’ll see it as good value given the GM making the deal vs the GMs he’s making the deal with. I’m almost thinking of dumping my current team and just becoming a Jack Zduriencik fan.

Hendry

It’s more about how much I hate the GM and complete direction of the baseball organization I’ve loved my whole life. I’m thinking of dumping the whole concept of being a fan of a team and just going back to worshipping certain players (i.e. Edgar Martinez, Andre Dawson) and GMs no matter what team they are on.

Henrdry, heck.

I’m a fan of Billy Beane’s team, and even I’m tempted to jump ship for JZ. Billy hasn’t been very impressive the last two years.

Beane

I’d take Billy… in a second. Please come to Chicago, Billy.
