A sad day. I hope he sticks around.

Hope he comes back
There are far worse guys to have on the roster.

Namely one Ken Griffey Junior.
Say it with me: Washington Capitals. Capitals.

Perhaps if we had come up with a better nickname he would have stayed.
I blame the Lookout Landing readership.

This is a truly tragic turn of events.
My falling tears stain the cold winter ground at my feet, as I recall fond memories of our dear Langerhans. Frigid wind buffets my face, reminding me of the way he used to chase after fly balls in that green outfield of yesteryear. You may be gone, o Langerhans, but you remain still in my heart forever.

Griffey's the completely useless one

Yeah but I've accepted that he will be on this team
I agree though Bill Hall will take the brunt of the hate. I can’t be mad at Griffey for long.

Handedness matters
If the M’s kept Langerhans instead of Hall, their bench would have been three LH hitters and the backup catcher. Not very practical for late game situations. One of the three non-catcher reserves basically has to be RH, so Hall’s basically a lock to make the club.

This is the price we pay for tickles.

He was my favorite Mariner last year.
This blows.

Well that fucking sucks.
Any chance he resigns?
FUCK THE DBACKS!

He wouldn't take it
There’s another club out there that will give him a roster spot.

That would be the only likely way, no?
If the team planned on carrying less pitchers, they’d have offered him the contract already.

This also ends a part of the Mark Langston trade.
Mark Langston → Randy Johnson→ Freddy Garcia→ Mike Morse→ Ryan Langerhans

I think Gut will keep the Langston chain alive for awhile

I think your FACE will keep the Langston chain alive for a while.
Dammit I was just going to post that but I had to fact-check first!

Or, alternatively....
Langston → Randy → Freddy → Reed → Heilman → :(edeno → Wilson/Snell.
There are still enough offshoots to keep it alive.

That's lame. Who can we turn to to hit walk-off homers now?

Jason Bay.
When we sign him to 5 years and $80 million dollars.

How far we've come that we can joke about these things.
If Bavasi were here I would have hung my head at the painful reality of that comment, but with GMZ I can just laugh and smile…..right?….RIGHT?

Do you really think we'll sign him to that, Coach?
Be realistic.

It has been a year for non-tenders
The list of non-tendered free agents reads as quite the list of former prospects, people on the cusp of bench/starter, and a few that have fallen through the floor but might someday be good. I’m surprised at how many decent players got non-tendered.
