I think Edgar will eventually get in, but the first voting go-around will be a measurement of how long it will take.
If he gets 5-15% of the vote, it might not happen until the veterans committee. If he gets 45-55%, it might only be a few years.
I think an encouraging sign is when Selig named the DH award after Edgar. Not many players get a league-wide award named after them. Plus, the DH will someday become acceptable among voters. Molitor was the first. Frank Thomas played the majority of his career at DH. Edgar simply cannot be ignored even though he didn’t reach any major milestone.
