Is anyone else going to make fun of this picture?

That was a ripoff, One of the worst World Series' I can remember.  I really wanted to see Philli win, Raul would have gotten his long deserving rings, Utley or Lee would have gotten the MVP.  Matsui only played in half of the series, he didn't diserve it, Plus I always kinda liked watching A-Rod not get a title.

Let's see here:

1.How is it a ripoff exactly?
2.I would argue that it was actually a much better World Series than many were anticipating.
3.I’d say A-Rod deserved that ring a hell of a lot more than Raul.
4.Matsui certainly deserved the MVP
5.What is there to make fun of?

FUCK THE ANGELS! FUCK THE ANGELS! FUCK THE ANGELS!

I don't like the Yankees

but I fail to see the ripoff angle here. Matsui had 6 RBI in a deciding game, not sure he didn’t “diserve” it.

Thanks for playing. Spell check next time you’re overcome by rage?

He needs a dialing wand.

It can be hard to type with a moose knuckle.

Raul is a horible defender, pretty good with a bat and a great team leader and seems like a pretty decent guy for whatever that’s worth. Yeah I’d root for him to win over A-Rod. A-Rod is 10 times better but he’s a prick and a Yankee.

Matsui played great, but he only played in a few games. Jeter in all and played great as well as Damon. I would have loved to see Utley or Lee get the MVP although if Philly would have won it would have gone to Utley.

BEST TEAM LEADER EVER

too bad we were Team Dinosaur at the time. He didn’t believe.

Half a year.

The second half consisted of the “Two-Headed Monster”

I can't resist chiming in!

I thought it was a pretty good series, and I don’t like the Yankees and am largely indifferent to the Phillies.

There is nothing wrong with that picture.

If you want to sulk, do it on your own and don’t put up a shitty fanpost about it.

[I seem to be grumpy this morning.]

I now see that this is your first post/comment.

In that case, I take back the hostility. For some reason I thought I’d seen you around for a bit. Still, this didn’t really warrant a fanpost. Maybe try watching for a bit to get a sense of things.

Don't take back the hostility

We can hold this up as a shining example of What New Posters Shouldn’t Do! It’s an object lesson!

No it's alright

Flaming someone on the internet is cool. If this were Highschool you would be that football player who is 200 lbs with 7% body fat who is chiseled like a rock and has all the girls lined up at his door begging him to bone them.

Lets get Schmitt Faced!

This was the best WS since 2003, I thought it was quite good.

I wouldn’t get too upset about WS MVP awards, who gives a fuck about it?

I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.

in all honesty that's the only thing that really bugs me about this Yankee win

is that somehow “George deserves this one”. Dude already had SIX. Just because he’s dying (probably? Don’t really know, but he’s old) doesn’t make him all of a sudden some heroic underdog figure who needs validation.

by pdb on Nov 5, 2009 10:59 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Watching that game felt like watching an M's game of yesteryear.

Kept wishing the Phillies would turn around and crush stuff all of a sudden, but knowing it wasn’t going to happen. Big sigh on the double play in the 6th. Pretty much a downer; I turned it off after the 7th. Though, now that I think about it, I’m glad Matsui was the one in the spotlight instead of A-rod or something. Also, Howard finally hit something, though I was expecting a 6-HR game from him, so… c’mon.

Do people who play team sports ever "deserve" to win a championship?

How do we make the jump from “Raul is a good baseball player and a nice man” to somehow thinking it is justice’s duty to award Raul Ibanez with a team accomplishment that he plays maybe a 7% role in.

by Manzanillos Cup on Nov 5, 2009 11:00 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

No. A thousand times no.

Nobody “deserves” a championship.

by pdb on Nov 5, 2009 11:12 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Or, to expand on that a bit

People tend to confuse the selfless “deserve” with the more selfish “would be nice to see”. it somehow successfully concludes people’s simple narrative arcs if a certain player that person likes wins a championship, so the prospect of it somehow morphs from “I’d really like to see Raul win a championship” to “goddamit Raul DESERVES to win a championship”.

by pdb on Nov 5, 2009 11:14 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Except Edgar.

Edgar deserves it.

by msb on Nov 5, 2009 11:22 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Okay

I’d like to see Raul win a championship. and I agree, Edgar deserves it.

Ernie Banks does.

I’d even just settle for a playoff game…

I wonder what sounds it picked up?

Half of the Yankees talk out of their ass anyways.

by moose_knuckle on Nov 6, 2009 7:14 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I feel compelled to mention that

Matsui had a PH home run in game 3 at Philly, and a PH hit in game 5. So your assertion that he only played in half the games is incorrect.
