Petit claimed
Heads up. Mariners claimed Yusmeiro Petit. Heard from Dave, and this is the only link I can find right now.

I'm not sure how to feel about this.
On one hand, he’s a flyball pitcher in Safeco with a decent K rate. Cool. On the other hand, his tRA stinks.
It seems like he’ll be just another BOR starter. We have a plethora of those as it is.
Correct me if my analysis is wrong?

And Doug Slaten to the Nats.
Not real sure how to feel about this. Petit’s homeritis will be less of a problem here than at Chase at least

So upon a little further reflection, speaking strictly as a DBacks fan, I'm not gonna miss Slaten in the least.
Petit though, was always somebody I liked. I was really excited when we got him from Florida for Jorge Julio. He’s got good stuff and showed flashes of brilliance off and on, including almost no hitting the Pirates this year. But his home run problem was insane. It seemed like every other flyball left the yard. But he’s always a guy that I wanted to see succeed.
Oh well. I guess Kevin Mulvey replaces Petit as my favorite BOR starter who was acquired for a maligned reliever.

Mariners news!
Woohoo!
Aside from that I have no strong feelings on this one way or the other.
Fuck Anaheim.

Petit had a 1.91 HR/9 this year
The highest qualified pitcher this year was Braden Looper with a 1.80; the second highest was 1.58 for Jeremy Guthrie. Petit’s HR/FB% would have been 3rd highest among qualified starters. His xFIP was 4.65 which is better then Luke French or Doug Fister. I think Petit has some decent upside, and while pitcher don’t follow aging curves, he is still only 24 going on 25

I don't think we can expect that number to carry over to Safeco.
Fuck Anaheim.

That was kind of the point
I don’t think that number would have carried over even had Petit stayed in Arizona, Safeco would help that even more.

Do we get fined?
Are there potential tampering complaints that can be levied?

Petit used to be a top prospect.
Not even in the Gaby Hernandez used to be a top prospect sense.
I don’t pay attention to the NL all that much, what the heck happened to him?

Right... nothing exactly....
He just peaked because his stuff is not particularly good.
