Best Moderator: Graham (I assume this means actual modding, as I’d give author of the year to Jeff, but as a mod he’s a total pushover and Graham teaches me fun new ways to insult people with insults derived from the earth’s lowest forms of multicellular life)
Best Commenter (non-mods only) – throwing names out there: pdb (probably my pick), Robert, msb, Fogel, Royal Curve, acblue, Poochie, seattlebruin, abender20, Wilder, probably some others I’m missing.
Comment of the Year (non-image): I CAN HAZ FRANKLINS PENIS IN ME, OlSalty’s Lore of Owens,
Comment of the Year (images permitted): Fett Fett Fett
Comment of the Year (images permitted, non-Fett division): TBD? probably something by Vatinius, but it’s devilishly time-consuming to search through a bunch of threads for each image, especially since my bandwidth where I’m at is so bad that I can’t run MLB.tv even when it’s running at its peak, best level.
Rookie of the Year: yeah, probably not me. I’m kind of drawing a blank about rookies here. Vatinius, Attractive Nuisance, abender20 – any others? Also: no, Poochie.
Best FanPost (FanPost content only): TBD,
Best Front Page Post (Post content only): TBD
Best Thread (overall thread after post): I CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGER NIGHT
Best Beer Subthread: The one from a few weeks ago? I don’t remember all that many of them this year.
Best Baseball Subthread: TBD
Best Other Subthread: I don’t know if they’re the best of anything (maybe best meta subthreads), but I was very proud of LL for the way these three subthreads were conducted: Lookout Landing QC in February, Griffey Brings Back Old Mojo in April, and The Perils of Hope Placed in an overachieving team. I think that the first two really helped make LL more welcoming and effective at policing commenters’ misbehavior, and the third proved that we’ve made alot of strides towards being more fair and more welcoming while fully maintaining our past standards.
Best Off-the-Wall Subthread (such as the duckyou thread): Actually, this one’s a little like the Best Freak Out Thread I suggested, I now realize.
Meme of the Year: tip of the hat to Matthew for Everyone on that site is a fag. (subsequent usage here)

Also, JamMasterJesus for another RoY nominee.
Also, most enjoyable game threads/recaps (there’s five or six for alot of them, so I’ll just list them):
April 16thish: Ichislam and Griffeydong night
May 3rd (15 inning game against A’s with the Miguel Batista Collapse)
4-3 win against the Diamondbacks in the 8th inning: June 20th or so
August 8th: 1st Langerhans slam (for going from such a terrible thread to such a lovely one when he hit it)
July 10: Yuni traded thread – that’s priceless too.
15 inning 1-0 Griffey walk-off double game (August, what 13th?)

Just relax, eventually you’ll learn to lay back and enjoy it (or at least close your eyes and shut up).

I know you probably meant nothing bad by this, but
as the person with the longest comment on this thread, this really rubbed me the wrong way. I’m literally half a world away from Seattle right now. I haven’t been able to actually view a baseball game in almost two months, and I’ve been awfully busy this week. But I set aside a couple hours to answer the question as thoroughly as I can because the 2008 LLemmie thread is what made me fall in love with Lookout Landing and want become a regular here. It’s the greatest single resource for understanding this site. That’s why I obsess about it – I want other people to be able to discover the best examples of what LL has to offer all on one page.

by seattlebruin on Oct 13, 2009 8:21 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
The whole thing is genius, but this is what sells it:
It was at this time that Coach exclaimed that boats were "for pussies" and rallied his troops with the battle cry "let’s wade this bitch". Unfortunately, due to the unneccessarily heavy weapons with which he had equipped his troops, the entirety of his force drowned in 4 feet of water. And there was much rejoicing.

Memories are lighter then air
That’s why babies don’t remember anything because they are so short. As you grow taller you are able to catch more and more memories. Then when you grow old, you lose your memory because you start to shrink and there is less room in you to hold all of them so them escaping causes you to talk a lot about things that don’t make sense.
For example people like Jeff and myself can remember random obscure facts about sports and bannarama lyrics because there is more room to store them meanwhile people like you have very limited capacity and will ask the same fucking question twice in the same god damn thread.
by Robert on Oct 13, 2009 4:11 PM PDT up reply actions 6 recs
I'm not sure I understand this comment
are you implying that Poochie has a bad memory because he is a dog and is thus short? Or just because he is short? Or that you and Jeff are tall?
Please clarify.
by seattlebruin on Oct 13, 2009 4:15 PM PDT up reply actions 4 recs
While this is the equivalent of saying "I hope they both lose" in the Yankee/Angel poll,
Reading through the old threads makes me appreciate just how hilarious the “Question?” thread really was. It seems like those kinds of things happen less. But maybe that is because it is the end of the season and we don’t get many more new visitors that aren’t instantly out of place.

I think that’s a fair compromise.
by acblue on Oct 14, 2009 10:58 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs

are you saying that Poochie only counts as 3/5 of a commenter?
