Opening this up early because, hey, news.
Stung by a rash of blown calls in the playoffs, Major League Baseball is breaking tradition and sticking with only experienced umpires for the World Series.
...
In 24 of the last 25 World Series, the six-man crew has included at least one umpire working the event for the first time—baseball likes to reward newer umpires, plus replenish the supply of umps with Series experience.
Well this should solve everything.

Umps
Considering I really don’t care which of the Angels/Yankees or Phillies win the world series, I would love to see the world series decided by a blatantly blown call by an ump (or a series of blatantly blown calls, culminating with a game 7 blunder). This would go a long way in getting MLB to start trying to find a way to fix the real problem, which is that it is impossible for human umps to not make mistakes.
We’ve already got a system for calling balls and strikes better than umps can do it. Now we need someone to develop a system for analyzing base running calls and catch / no catch, and foul/fair calls in near real time to give umps on the field instant feed back. I have a masters in computer science and I can tell you the latter set of problems are not easy to solve, but it also isn’t at all impossible with current technologies. Just needs someone cough MLB to put up the millions required to develop said system. They do that and hire the right people to do it and within 3-5 years we could have that system in place.

Terry Francona came out to the mound, but Lopez wasn’t headed to the showers just yet. The call wasn’t made to the bullpen, but to right field. Outfielder Jonathan Van Every trotted in to pitch, and Lopez was sent to right field to deal with the rare circumstance of staying in the fans’ view after being pulled from the mound.
