Fun With Numbers: Captain Clutch
With the start of the ALCS this evening* and having to endure wading through some previews, the mantra again of Alex Rodriguez not being clutch in the playoffs finally drove me to investigate it.
* assuming the weather cooperates.
You can read my full treatment of the subject on FanGraphs: here, but I will pass along the money shot

Right, because multi million dollar baseball stadiums have to be built without ceilings.
What assholish thought process permeates stadium designs to such a degree that prevents the addition of, at least, a retractable roof. Minnesota is proudly announcnig that 2010 games will be played in the sun! Whee! No it never snows or anything in Minnesota! New York sits along the coast. Rain? Hah! We’ll just play two later! Hurricanes in Florida? Pfffft. Let the ball players drown.
Fans are typically idiots.

At least the new ballpark in Miami will have a roof
Doesn’t help us any, but at least some organizations in the east have some sense.

See the comments section on Matthew's fangraphs post.
Worse commenters than Geoff Baker’s blog, and that’s saying something.

Or don't.
There is seriously no point in paying attention to people that dumb.

The very rare times that I wade into the comments on anything I write at FanGraphs
makes me so thankful for the LL community.

Luckily you can also get people like me!
That use a fake email, copy the screen name of the person that is ragging on the authors, and then insult “myself.” Did you know that Biased Carruth has a low IQ and smells like cheese? I did!
...and now I'm here

I didn't know Biased Carruth was actually Joba Chamberlain!
Say it with me: Washington Capitals. Capitals.

I'd argue to the contrary.
Reading opinions by “people that dumb” can provide no small amount of amusement.
