Sorry Aaron, Messenger Returns
Reliever Randy Messenger has cleared waivers and signed a minor league deal with the Mariners. Seattle also gave him an invitation to go to major league spring training.
Drats.
Messenger did dramatically increase the percentage of strikes he threw in 2008, but didn't see much of a betterment in his walk rate. If he can maintain that fluke of control, you would expect to see him issue fewer walks in 2009, which could make him marginally useful. Either way, it's a good signing for Tacoma who now might be the favorites in the annual Seattle v Tacoma Battle of the Bullpens Eating Contest.

As disagreeable of a person as we find Silva, I highly doubt he would eat another human being let alone a teammate.
I that teammate were available at In-n-Out Burger
I think Silva might eat him by accident.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Enough with the Silva fat jokes for the love of God.

If Silva's in our bullpen, we're either having a very good or very bad pitching year.
