Rosenthal: M's Interested in Abreu

If the price is right.

I really, really like this if we can get a one-year deal for 7-9 million.  He's projected to put up a wOBA anywhere from .375 to .357.  If we can DH him, he could be a 2.0-win player.

Could we get Abreu AND trade for Swisher?  Would we have the payroll to do that? Given the fact that Swisher isn't a bad OF if he's not in center, this would move the team closer to contention.

1/9 million seems unlikely

and he’d have to want to DH, which if he’s going to settle for a 1 year deal is even less likely than the one year deal is in the first place. So… yeah. I’m not holding my breath for this one.

Player may be willing to take one year deals

hoping that the economy will recover somewhat a year from now, or because it beats playing in Taiwan.

Yeah, but Taiwan has way more child prostitution than Seattle.

We may have to include a sex tourism clause in the contract if we want to compete with their offer.

You obviously know nothing about Taiwan

Insert perverted sports related sexual innuendo

Let's try this again,

Do/can the Mariners get both Abreu AND Swisher? Our would you prefer just one?

Getting both seems like a waste of resources, but who knows.

I do not see us having what the Yankees would want for Swisher but I would love to be wrong.

Both both both

But I prefer Dunn, unless some how Abreu re-starts walking 100 times a year.

From what I've read

Dunn is much less likely to come to the AL to DH. Especially if Jim Bowden is willing to pay him.

If I had to pick one, I’d probably do Abreu, but I didn’t realize how decent a defender Swisher is (if he’s not in CF).

Why should he have any say on whether he plays the field?

He doesn’t even like baseball.

m*****f***ing c***s***ing peanut butter and jelly!! f*** f*** f***!!!

I'd rather have both because I think both makes you a legitimate contender.

That certainly depends upon what it would take to get Swisher (or the equivalent.) If I had to pick one it would be Swisher, with the same caveat as above.

Wouldn't the M's lose a 2nd round pick if they signed him? Or was no arb offered?

Maybe I’m wrong but I believe he was a type A FA and since our 1st is protected they’d give a 2nd? Is it worth it for one year of production (though I suppose he could get the M’s the same thing the following year).

According to the Times interview with Abreu's agent, the M's would like

to make him an offer, but don’t have the money.

Thank you once again Chuck Armstrong for keeping Washburn and his 10 million dollars around.

Much appreciated jackass.

Note:Just hoping that somehow the Olson pickup will lead to Wash being sent somewhere.
