Who's The Closer?

I've got a website (Who's the Closer?) that tracks MLB closers, but I can't find any information on who's going to be the guy in Seattle.  Is it going to be Heilman, Tyler Walker, or someone else?

I'm not trying to be a blog-whore, I'm a regular over at Halos Heaven and I thought since I can usually get my questions answered there, the Mariner's fans would be willing to help out too.

Thanks for your help.

The M’s have decided that the only way to harness his arm is by having him throw 20 pitches every third night of the week to pick up the most worthless of counting stats.

You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.

Hey now.

I come in peace.

But yeah, usually…once you sort through some of the smart-ass replies (just like most sites).

I was uncool before uncool was cool.

I feel bad for someone who has put so much effort into their website

when it serves no functional purpose and nobody will ever youz it. It has to give him the blooz.

I'm hoping we don't really have one.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

No idea

Batista has the most ‘experience’ in that role, though I don’t know that Wakamatsu cares about that.
Heilman and Walker are decent guesses, though there are always dark horses like Corcoran.

Norm Charleton

Or Cuffs Caudill, but he’s a Boras client so the M’s might not want to deal with him.

At least it's relevant everyone's fantasy team.

Instead of “Hey guys I got Pujols!!!”

Which we’ll inevitably see in the Opening Day gamethread.

by Teej on Jan 21, 2009 1:33 PM PST up reply actions

Officially it doesn't. Fantasy discussion is generally frowned upon.

But many of us play, I’m sure. Lots of people like fantasy baseball. But there’s just zero value in hearing about someone else’s fantasy team unless they’re in your league or whatever.

During game threads, I’d rather see a freaking LOLcat than “Oh come on Beltre hit it out! I need to win homers this week!” It’s just the implication that anyone else would care about your pretend baseball team that riles people. And it’s so prevalent on other sports blogs that LL is a bit of an oasis.

by Teej on Jan 21, 2009 1:51 PM PST up reply actions

Exactly.

Even if someone’s in my league I don’t care about their team – their team is not my team, therefore it is of limited to no interest to me.

Thanks guys...

I appreciate all of your input.

And with putting up with an Angels’ fan on your site.

Good luck this season.

It almost used to be tradition

on the ESPN boards for some random asshat to ask who our closer would be before the season and then have everyone give a random fake answer.

You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.

by bluemax on Jan 21, 2009 2:09 PM PST up reply actions

Miguel Batista will be the closer.

Until July, when Batista and his 23 saves will be traded. Mark Lowe will then take up the role.

by mark sobba on Jan 21, 2009 2:40 PM PST reply actions

That implies

We’ll have at least 23 wins by June. That’s quite an assumption.

Mark Lowe

declared earlier today that he is going into ST to try to win the job, and apparently has been mentioning it to Wak every chance he gets.
