I guess that doesn't seem all that terrible

Rotation: Felix, Bedard, Morrow, Washburn, Silva
Bullpen: Heilman, Batista, Aardsma, RRS, Walker, Corcoran
Tacoma: Lowe, Jimenez, Thomas, Vargas, Feierabend

If you’re impressed by Lugo, add him and take a 12-man staff. If someone on the Tacoma list is blowing you away and you want to keep Lugo, you could try to work out a trade for him. Otherwise, anyone who impresses in Tacoma is going to get their shot at some point in the season after someone gets injured or is ineffective.

Messenger gives you an extra arm in case there are injuries in Feb/March, and if not, then maybe you lose him on waivers at the end of ST, maybe not. Either way, no big deal.

Also, are any of these guys playing in the WBC? It might be useful to have am extra arm or two (like Messenger, say) to soak up ST innings. Life would certainly be easier if you could dump Washburn’s contract somewhere, make Heilman happy by putting him in the rotation and put Jimenez or Lowe in the bullpen.

I'd guess that assuming everything is as it is no we end up trading for Lugo

and carrying a 12 man staff with Lowe, although with Heilman, Batista, and RRS you have several pitchers who can eat a bunch of innings, so an 11 man staff is pretty realistic.

I’d bet a small amount Heilman is gone by spring training which simplifies everything a bit.

Felix, Jimenez, Silva, and possibly RRS are WBC bound.
