Adam Dunn Doesn't Want To Play Baseball Next Season
Via one source, we have Dunn seeking four years and a whole lot of money, and via another, we have Dunn wanting to remain in the outfield. Which I think gives JP Ricciardi a little more ammo.
Somehow I don't see this one working out very well. If Dunn wants to have a job in 2009, something's gotta give, because while Jim Bowden's always capable of doing something crazy, this just isn't the right market in which to make these kinds of requests. Sorry, Adam, but everyone's on to your type. Methinks it's high time you settle.

That title
Is somewhat misleading. I thought it would be about how he would take a year off. Still, he needs to give in, no question is that.
He is much better suited for a 1B/DH role, and needs to realize it quickly.

Title makes sense to me.
Dunn wants a 4-year $56 Million contract AND he wants to play the outfield?
In this market (which has already been set for his type)?
I mean, really?

kinda hard
when you haven’t read the post yet. Once I read it I understood completely.

Come on guys...
…go easy on mlbn. His point is quite valid. You don’t have a lot of context immediately available when reading an RSS feed’s title. Not saying the title wasn’t ingenious, because it was – I wouldn’t have it changed much if at all.
Also, Dunn either needs a better agent (Ibanez’s?), or knows something we don’t.

Dunn and Mike Young should form their own traveling comedy show.

Young & Dunn
Maybe they could travel to each MLB city and get laughs when they demand what they want to each franchise’s GM.
Seriously though, why haven’t the Royals, or maybe the Nationals jumped at this yet? Seems like something one of those teams would do.
I would like Dunn as DH here, but with our new smart GM and staff, it probably won’t happen for the money he was commanding.

Raul can join them
and the three of them could put together a comedy routine regarding defense in baseball.

You'll need to find a place for Yuni too.
Maybe he and Young can have a routine called “the most overrated shortstops in baseball”.

These are the guys the DH was made for!
Adam Dunn, Manny, Raul etc. etc. The DH was made for guys like this. Stop being selfish players and think about what is good for the team you play for.
Someone, a family member, a coach, their agent, should sit them down and tell them the truth. “You can’t play the outfield. Let’s get you a DH job.”
Someday when all the GMs stop hiring these types of players. The players will have to put their egos aside and do what is best for their team.
Sorry that is me as an angry fan talking; not me, as a psychologist in training.
Dunn wont sit out the year but he will be pissed when the only offers he gets are so below his desires. Reality is harsh. I am sure he will just push it to external reasons and not face the reality he is horrible at playing the field.

Its not his fault if teams let him play in the field
Its the retarded teams who undervalue defense.

Sorry, you are asking the wrong team to take shitty players off the market for bloated salaries.
I think KC still does this. And Anaheim, I mean LAAAAAA, is probably desperate.

Angels are your best bet.
And I don’t think they’re even interested. Mariners grew brains over the fall. Oakland is already going the Giambi route.
You might be screwed.

I wonder if they spend so much on Dunn...
…That they might have to pass on Strasburg MUAHAHAHA!

If DC had $160-$170M to offer Teixeira...
…they’d better have enough to sign Strasburg…now to convince him it’s okay to play for the Nationals…

They were weak at QB so they had to do it
They’re going after Chris Paul next because they need a shooter.

Man City is reportadly offering 100m pounds for Kaka. Yankees could beat that easily.

No they couldn't
Not even close. It’s 100 million pounds plus half a million a week in wages.

Rotoworld:
A rival executive told FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal that the Red Sox have some interest in Adam Dunn.
Can he catch a knuckleball? It made a lot of sense for the Red Sox to find a place for Mark Teixeira, but putting Dunn at first base, Kevin Youkilis at third and trading Mike Lowell might not be much more than a wash, considering the loss of defense.
