M's Name Minor League Coaches
The Mariners just named their minor league coaching staffs for 2009 and at first glance, there have been some changes. Daren Brown returns for a third season managing Class AAA Tacoma. Phil Plantier takes over as the new Class AA manager in West Tennessee. Plantier, in his second season with the M's organization, was a coach with the Diamond Jaxx last year. He replaces Scott Steinmann, who is now managing the lower level Class A team in Clinton.
Jim Horner is managing the higher level Class A squad in High Desert of the Califonia League.
Former big league catcher John Tamargo has joined the Mariners organization and will manage the rookie level Everett Aquasox, replacing Jose Moreno -- who has been reassigned to manage the Arizona League's entry level Peoria Mariners.
Rob Mummau returns to manage the Appalaichan League's Pulaski Mariners.
Russell Vazquez will manage the Venezuelan Summer League team.
I'm somewhat surprised that Brown is back in Triple-A. With a new regime in place, I would think that they might bring one of the old MIL guys in. Guess that shows how highly they think of Brown.
Wait a minute, is this really even noteworthy? Well, I suppose it is because I'm bringing it up!

Habit
Don’t even think about it when doing it. I guess that way, everything by me shows up in the related Fanposts.
If it’s a problem, just let me know.

The reply button is your friend. Be sure to use it from now on.
Otherwise, your fanposts have been good and substantive so far. But yeah, we’re Reply Button fascists around here.

Tamargo was Durham's coach a few years back.
He wasn’t too big of a fan of Elijah Dukes, and the players didn’t seem to be too big of fans of him.

oops
should have said Brown. I was reading about Dayton Moore the same time as I was writing this.
I changed it, for less confusion.

Indeed!
I always thought that dude had a HOF-caliber name. His career didn’t ever really pan out like that, of course.
Same with Greg Dobbs. Except he’s had a bit more success than Horner…
